    Payment Issues at the Property

    The property clearly mentions no prepayment is required, yet there’s no option to pay. I couldn't get anyone on the phone to clarify! They even contacted me through booking.com to cancel my reservation because I hadn’t made a prepayment. But where am I supposed to pay? I was trying to book for a religious convention, and this has been quite frustrating.

    Average stay with some issues

    This is a typical place for an overnight stay. The room was clean, but the service left a lot to be desired. On the first day, we were given all cash, which didn't feel right. We stayed for two nights, and it was very noisy, making it hard for us to sleep.

    Disappointing stay in Colombo

    As a visitor from Poland, I spent my first night in Colombo at this place. I paid 25 dollars for the night, but I wouldn’t stay there again even if it were free! I usually travel on a budget, but this was the dirtiest accommodation I’ve ever experienced. The toilet hadn’t been cleaned upon my arrival, and there was something unpleasant left inside it. I discovered large cockroaches in my room and a spider that was about 10 cm long! At night, I could hear mice having a party above me. This place was a complete nightmare!

    Room Issues With AC Problems

    The rooms have a strong odor, and the bed sheets, towels, and pillows were not clean. The bathroom was in terrible shape. Given that Colombo can get quite hot in the afternoon, especially when you're out shopping, we like to leave the air conditioning on while we're gone. However, the owner keeps turning off the AC whenever we're out of the room, which is very frustrating. Each time we come back, we walk into a hot, unpleasant room. I would recommend avoiding this place.

    Friendly staff but noisy stay

    The staff were welcoming and very helpful, even allowing us to check in early. While the cleanliness was decent, the walls were quite thin, which might be problematic for some. Given the low price of accommodation in the city center, I can’t expect too much, but the noise could definitely be a concern.

    Spacious but Unclean Apartment

    We made an online reservation for a group of 6 and were given a large room featuring 4 beds and 2 attached bathrooms at a fair price of Rs6000. However, the apartment was infested with large flies and cockroaches. The interior finish didn't match the photos, and there were no air fresheners available. The bathrooms were particularly unpleasant, with flies and cockroaches present throughout. Additionally, the washbasins were leaking. On the plus side, the beds were somewhat comfortable.

    Booking Issues with Ashan's Hotel

    I had a reservation at this hotel, but I received this message: "Dear Guest, We are not available now. We didn't receive an advance payment from you at the point of booking to confirm your arrival. Please book another hotel. Best regards, Ashan's Hotel." This is frustrating because their website clearly states that no prepayment is required and that payment should be made after the stay. It leaves me confused about the situation! I strongly advise potential customers to double-check before making a reservation here, as their policies seem to change quickly. I'm extremely disappointed and angry about this response.

    Room issues but good service

    The room was nothing like the advertised picture. We found no hot water, and the bathroom was dirty and had an unpleasant odor. However, check-in was speedy, and they assisted us with a boiler issue. I recommend they improve their standards and ensure the bathrooms are cleaned properly before hosting more guests.

    Decent stay with some quirks

    The rooms are straightforward with essential amenities such as a bed, sofa, chairs, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. They are spacious, but it was a bit odd that the bathroom was located outside. Accessing the rooms involves a challenging climb, with two flights of narrow, steep stairs that can feel a little risky when carrying luggage.

    Terrible experience with rude staff

    This place is a complete joke. We reserved a room for eight people, and the guy demanded 15,000 LKR, claiming it was due to 'night time.' It felt like a scam. Even after we reluctantly accepted their ridiculous price, they started shouting and insisted on cash only, as if we were at some sketchy roadside lodge. We made it clear that we had money on our card and were ready to withdraw cash from the ATM right away, but they didn’t even allow us 5 minutes. Instead, they rudely insisted we leave at around 2 am. The staff's attitude was terrible—rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. There was no courtesy, no respect, and definitely no customer service. Forcing cash payments is both disgusting and dishonest. This place doesn’t deserve any customers. Stay away from this hotel unless you want to be treated poorly.
