These Terms of use (“Terms”) govern your use of Review Guru and the reviewguru.lk website (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Review Guru is a Sri Lankan consumer reviews platform. We let the public share their experiences with restaurants, hotels, and other businesses. We do not own or operate the businesses that are listed.
2. Your account
You may create an account using an email address or through a third-party login provider (e.g. Google). You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe. You must be at least 16 years old to sign up. You must provide accurate information and update it if it changes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, post fraudulent reviews, harass others, or create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings.
3. Posting reviews
When you post a review on the Service, you confirm that:
- The review reflects your own genuine experience with the business.
- You have not been paid or otherwise induced to post the review by the business, its competitors, or any third party.
- The review does not contain defamatory statements, unlawful content, or personal information about other people (including staff) that could identify them beyond what is reasonably necessary.
- You own or have permission to share any photos or other content you upload.
You grant Review Guru a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, translate, and distribute your review and any associated photos, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You retain ownership of your content.
4. Moderation and removal
We use automated tools plus human review to screen submissions for fraud, spam, hate speech, and clearly harmful content. We reserve the right to remove, hide, or amend content that breaches these Terms or our Content policy, without notice.
5. Business owners
Business owners may claim their listing by verifying ownership. Owners cannot edit or remove genuine customer reviews. Owners may reply to reviews publicly and flag reviews they believe to be fraudulent for our review. Using the Service to solicit fake reviews, threaten reviewers, or retaliate against them is a serious violation and will result in removal from the platform.
6. Imported content
Some business listings and early reviews have been imported from publicly available sources and re-written for clarity. These are labelled accordingly on each review. If you believe an imported item misrepresents you or your business, contact us at legal@reviewguru.lk and we will investigate promptly.
7. Prohibited use
- Scraping, spidering, or otherwise extracting content from the Service except as permitted by our robots.txt.
- Circumventing our moderation, rate-limit, or anti-fraud measures.
- Impersonating others.
- Uploading malware, harmful code, or illegal content.
8. No guarantee
The Service is provided on an “as is” basis. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any listing or review. Ratings reflect the opinions of individual reviewers, not us.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Review Guru is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or LKR 1,000 if you have paid us nothing).
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Review Guru against any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of content you submit in violation of these Terms.
11. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. If a change is material we will post a notice on the site or email registered users. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Colombo.
