Content policy

Review Guruis a platform for honest consumer reviews. This policy sets out what we allow, what we don't, and how we enforce it.

What we require

  • Real experiences only. Every review must reflect your own genuine experience with the business. First-hand, not second-hand.
  • No compensation. Do not post reviews in exchange for discounts, free products, payment, or any other inducement.
  • Useful detail. What did you order? How was the service? Be specific so other readers can make informed decisions.
  • Respect. You can criticise the business without attacking staff personally.

What we remove

  • Fraudulent reviews — including coordinated fake positive reviews, competitor attacks, and reviews written by people who never visited.
  • Conflicts of interest — reviews by owners, staff, or their close connections about their own business or competitors.
  • Personal attacks, harassment, and slurs against individuals (staff, reviewers, or others).
  • Hate speech targeting protected characteristics (ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender, disability, etc.).
  • Private information— staff members' personal contact details, home addresses, or other identifying data beyond what is reasonably necessary.
  • Content that violates the law — defamation, incitement, threats, and so on.
  • Off-topic content that has nothing to do with the business being reviewed.
  • Promotional content, advertising, or links to unrelated services.

Photos

Photos must be relevant (food, space, menu, receipts), taken by you, and free of other people's faces where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy. No nudity, no graphic violence, no copyright infringement.

Conflicts & disputes

If you're a business owner and you believe a review is fake or violates this policy, use the “Report” button. Our moderators look at every report. We will not remove a review just because it's negative — we will remove it if it breaches this policy or we have reasonable grounds to believe it's fake.

How enforcement works

  1. Every new review is screened by AI moderation.
  2. Flagged submissions go to a human moderation queue.
  3. Users can report published reviews; reports route to the same queue.
  4. Outcomes: publish, edit (remove offending portions),hide, or remove and in serious cases ban the author.
  5. All moderation decisions are logged.

Appeals

If your review was removed and you believe we got it wrong, email appeals@reviewguru.lkwith the review URL and your reasoning. We'll re-review within 5 business days.

Repeat violations

Repeat violations lead to account suspension, and for serious cases (coordinated fraud, harassment) permanent ban. Banned users' published content may be removed or left anonymised at our discretion.
