Jungle Retreat with Comfort Food

MG Resort offers a wonderful escape into the jungle, surrounded by lush greenery. This hidden treasure provides a unique experience that stands out from typical hotels. Instead of the usual buffets, you’ll enjoy meals prepared by a resident home cook, serving up fresh and authentic dishes that feel like comforting home cooking. It was a refreshing change from standard resort options. Waking up to the soothing sounds of birds was a delight, and just a short stroll away, you can find a beautiful lake that's perfect for a leisurely walk.

Enjoyable stay with tasty meals

During our trip to Kataragama, we had a pleasant experience at this bungalow. The caretaker and his family were incredibly helpful and prepared delicious meals for us. We’ll certainly return to this bungalow in the future.

Charming Resort with Helpful Staff

This is my honest review to give you insight into MG WILD RESORT. It's a lovely, clean location that's calm and quiet, featuring a beautiful lake and paddy fields. The staff who attended to us were very friendly and excellent. One important tip: if you’re using GOOGLE MAP, stop your vehicle near the temple with the large statue about 900m from the hotel and turn right in front of the temple. The map directs you to a narrow road that isn't accessible. Also, keep in mind that the correct route can be a bit challenging for low-profile vehicles. Relaxing stay with great food

Wonderful resort with great food

This is among the best resorts I've ever visited. The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating, even customizing meals to suit our tastes—the food was truly outstanding! 👌👌👌 We will definitely return. The only slight drawback was the access to the hotel, but that’s not really their issue. The resort itself is stunning, with peacocks roaming freely around the grounds. If you desire a tranquil getaway, this is the ideal spot.

Charming stay with management issues

This resort is situated along the Kataragama - Sithulpawwa Road, although the access road is a bit tricky. The surroundings are peaceful, with lush greenery and peacocks wandering about, which adds to the lively atmosphere. The morning bird songs and sunsets are delightful, and the view of Nachchaduwa lake and the green fields behind the resort enhance the beauty. The owner seems very kind, even though we didn't have a chance to meet her. The rooms were spacious and clean. However, the bathroom left something to be desired due to a foul odor. We also noticed leftover soap on the rack. Towels were not provided until we asked, and they were quite basic. After raising our concerns, the caretaker did bring us better towels. Late at night, when we returned from Kirivehera, we realized there were no bed sheets available, and since the caretaker lives separately, we couldn’t reach him for more. The owner mentioned that meals could be arranged for Rs 500, but the caretaker charged Rs 1000 for cooking, plus the cost of the ingredients we provided. As a result, we opted to eat out. When the owner tried to intervene, we requested her not to, as we had already sorted our meals. The TV was placed in the lobby outside the room, but the remote was with the caretaker. Given these issues, I think the owner needs to address these management shortcomings for an improved experience.

Great stay with excellent dinner

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were spotless, and despite being surrounded by nature, the insect proofing was effective—no bugs in the room at all. I strongly recommend enjoying dinner prepared by the host; it was truly exceptional.

Wonderful Safari Stay with Warm Hosts

We stayed for one night with a group of six, and the owner organized a Safari in Yala National Park, which was an incredible addition to our trip. The accommodations were clean and spacious. The host family was like a warm pair of parents, very welcoming and friendly, preparing home-cooked meals and providing breakfast before our Safari and dinner upon arrival. They were truly lovely people! This is a fantastic place to stay for anyone going on a Safari tour.

Disappointing Booking Experience

I tried to make a reservation on May 30, 2026, by calling both numbers listed, but neither call was picked up. I got a text back asking me to send a message, which I did, but I never heard back. That initial text was the only communication I received. Even now, I'm still waiting for a response. This has been a very disappointing booking experience.
