Charming stay with room for improvement

I visited this place around three months ago, and it was truly an exceptional experience — something that stands out from typical getaways. The location has a natural appeal that really draws you in and allows for a great connection with nature. The owner is incredibly nice, and his Spanish assistant was a real treasure — very friendly and contributed a wonderful atmosphere to the place. The pets were delightful as well, adding to the warm and inviting feel of the stay. If I were to mention one aspect that could use some improvement, it would be the bathroom arrangement — a few enhancements there would elevate the experience. Nevertheless, Humbaha Eco Resort is a lovely location with a lot of promise, and I sincerely wish them the best as they continue to develop. It's definitely worth a visit!

Charming spot with a magical touch

This place is truly incredible. Owner Fernando has crafted a little world of magic here. I wouldn't suggest it for those who prefer to remain in hotel rooms, but I would challenge them to give it a try; it's genuinely worth it. It felt like a pure and natural experience, and the hosts are wonderfully kind people.

Fun atmosphere and adorable pups

We had a fantastic time at this unique spot. Our host, Daniel, was incredible and really fun to be around! The room felt like a charming little hut, and the entire place resembled a massive theme park. Plus, the dogs and puppies were absolutely adorable! 🥰

Strange eco resort experience

This is honestly one of the oddest "eco resorts" I've ever been to. While it promotes itself as a jungle retreat, the reality felt more like a small zoo, with all the animals confined in cages. It was quite uncomfortable and significantly detracted from my overall experience. Also, the breakfast prices are simply outrageous.

The property is in poor condition. Neither of the rooms were well-kept. There was dust on the rooms and fans, and very little light entered. Our room had an unpleasant odor, including in the pots and wash area. We couldn’t stay longer than one night and wouldn't recommend it. Also, the hotel has many pets.

Unique and Magical Stay

This place is absolutely enchanting. Upon our arrival, the incredibly friendly caretaker greeted us warmly, along with all the adorable dachshunds. We stayed in the treehouse, which offered a truly one-of-a-kind experience, and I slept soundly thanks to the soothing sounds of nature. The owner is a fascinating individual with a wealth of stories and musical skills; he even taught us how to play different instruments. If you appreciate a vibe filled with peace, love, and harmony, this is definitely the spot for you!

Uncomfortable stay with unsettling vibes

Avoid this resort, especially if you're a solo female traveler! The owner gave off unsettling vibes, and there was a pervasive sense of discomfort throughout the entire place. To make matters worse, I found bedbugs in my room! I also arranged a safari through the resort, but the driver failed to show up that morning. Overall, my experience here was highly unprofessional and very uncomfortable.

Stunning Place but Odd Energy

The host has a way of twisting things around, which creates a strange atmosphere. It’s unfortunate because the location is beautiful, but you have to listen closely to the host's stories. The safari I went on was just a drive around, and the driver didn’t speak English. The host also shared odd details about his sculptures, mentioning sexual energy and genitals, which made me uncomfortable. We had an agreement for a work exchange, but he lied and then acted like we never discussed it. It felt very off. Be cautious not to be pressured or taken advantage of.

Charming but needs some improvements

What a unique spot! We came here based on a friend's suggestion who promised us "something different," and it certainly delivered, in a good way. The setting is intriguing, with quirky rooms set amidst lush nature and an assortment of animals that add real character. It's clear the owner has crafted a place with genuine charm and individuality. However, there are definitely areas that could be better. Our room wasn’t as clean as we hoped. We found several dead bugs on the mosquito netting and even had some unexpected visitors — a few cockroaches and frogs! We managed to get them out quickly, but it was still quite a surprise. One memorable incident was when I turned on the tap and a tiny frog hopped out from the water groove! 🐸 Fortunately, I noticed it in time and decided to avoid using the tap water altogether. It appeared that the water was sourced directly from the nearby river, which was obvious from its color and the hose leading into the river. The air conditioning didn’t work well, so we had to rely on the two ceiling fans, which were unfortunately dusty and covered in spider webs, making them less appealing. The bathroom facilities were acceptable but not great. The water pressure was low, and the water had a murky, river-like tint. The shower head was missing, making washing a challenge, although the electric hand shower was a nice touch for those who appreciate hot water. The lighting in the room was a bit dim, but I actually liked that — it created a relaxing vibe, if only the other issues hadn’t been so distracting. Internet and phone reception were poor. If you’re far from the main hut, even checking your email could be tough. Also, watch out for the dogs — there are six, and one big dog almost bit me one evening! Apparently, shining a flashlight at them can provoke them, so it’s best to steer clear of that. Thankfully, they’re pretty calm and friendly during the day. The owner, a former musician, hosts evening drum sessions that bring a lively charm to the place, complementing his creative, free-spirited personality. All in all, this is a distinctive retreat with a lot of potential. I hope the owner continues to improve the facilities so that future guests can fully enjoy his hospitality and the uniqueness of his property!
