Our time at Samwill Holiday Resort in Kataragama was truly disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to others. When we arrived, we were met by a group of young boys who made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

We’ve stayed here three or four times before, but this visit was really disappointing. When we requested to have our dinner delivered to our rooms, as we had done in the past, the staff refused and were quite rude. After some back and forth, one employee even yelled at us and mentioned a 50% surcharge. We tried to address the issue with the manager, but he sided with the staff. To top it off, the rooms weren't very clean either. I can't recommend this place and I certainly won't return.

We needed to book this hotel at the last minute because of sudden travel changes, and we really wish we had looked at the previous customer reviews on Google, Booking.com, and TripAdvisor. If we had, we would have avoided this disaster altogether…

This place isn't a 3-star property; it's more like a 1-star. They advertise having a restaurant, but that's not the case. Our room lacked basics like an electric kettle, water, tea, coffee, cups, and glasses. There was no soap by the bathroom sink, and we requested two towels but only received one. The AC unit was malfunctioning, and the bathroom drain hadn't been cleaned all year. The location is its only redeeming quality, especially if you're heading out for a Yala safari.

The cleanliness was completely lacking, and the facilities were in bad shape. The TV didn't work, and the bathroom was dirty and unhygienic. Guests were treated rudely, as if they weren't welcome. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The rooms are quite spacious, but unfortunately, they lack cleanliness. There's an unpleasant odor in the rooms. Additionally, there are no electric kettles, water bottles, glasses, or cups provided. While they claim to have hot water available, it doesn't function properly. Overall, I don't believe it was worth the price paid. This place feels more like a 1-star hotel rather than a 3-star. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a really pleasant experience at Samwill Holiday Resort in Kataragama. The rooms were tidy and well-kept, which contributed to a very comfortable stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile. The owner was also very kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. In summary, it’s a tranquil spot with excellent hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kataragama!

The room is quite spacious and features newly built twin beds, but unfortunately, the bed linens weren't clean, and the housekeeping was lacking. There's a supervisor, an army fellow, who seems to have no knowledge beyond maintaining the garden. His customer service skills are also lacking; he doesn't know how to interact with guests. It would be beneficial for him to receive some training in hotel maintenance and guest relations.

I enjoyed a really nice stay at Samwill Holiday Resort. The staff were incredibly helpful. The room was quite comfy, and having pool access was a great bonus. The prices were very affordable. All in all, it’s a wonderful spot to unwind. Definitely recommended!
