Grateful for Exceptional Knee Surgery Experience

I’m grateful for the chance to share my thoughts on the surgery performed by Dr. Herath. Like many awaiting knee surgery, I experienced not just knee pain but also a cloud of fear and anxiety. We often view the process as purely technical for the surgeon, but it turned out to be much more than just a surgical procedure. I approached this surgery similarly to one I had four years ago, but the differences I noticed during and after the operation are remarkable. The minimal communication during the surgery, which continued afterwards, provided reassurance that this was more than just a technical endeavor. Dr. Herath's approach fostered a healing experience that transcended the physical, embodying what I would call a human healing process. His consistent reassurances played a critical role in my recovery, addressing both physical and psychological aspects. Furthermore, the ongoing follow-ups from the doctor, which I believe are becoming more frequent, greatly aid in my rejuvenation and confidence to embrace life again. My friends, family, and I are truly thankful for this. I’d also like to extend my appreciation to the staff at Suwa Sewana and especially to physiotherapist Mr. Bandara! May you all be blessed, and thank you once more!

Exceptional Care in Difficult Times

It might seem cliché, but I can't express enough gratitude and respect for Dr. Chandana Herath and his team. I had a serious fall just five days into my 16-day holiday in Sri Lanka. Alone and feeling vulnerable in a foreign country, I was anxious about my injury and what would happen next. Upon meeting Dr. Herath, I felt reassured by his approach and the patience he showed while explaining my diagnosis. He was willing to perform surgery that same day, even though it meant a late evening in the operating room. Despite being a highly esteemed surgeon, he displayed no arrogance, only professionalism mixed with genuine warmth and compassion, which was exactly what I needed during such a tough time. The comprehensive care I received from his expert team—covering anaesthetics, radiology, physiotherapy, nursing, and overall care—was impeccable. This support allowed me to focus on my recovery and helped build my confidence and strength for the challenging 32-hour journey back to the UK. Without the preparation and guidance I received, that journey could have been overwhelming. I appreciated their commitment to long-term recovery, providing clear explanations about the stages of progress and what to expect moving forward. Once I returned to the UK, I was frustrated that I couldn't get an appointment with my NHS fracture clinic for over two weeks. Even though I had been discharged from his care, Dr. Herath continued to offer support and trusted advice. I'm writing this after finally securing my appointment, where the specialist in the UK praised the incredible work done by Dr. Herath’s team, even sharing my x-rays that showed remarkable recovery a month later. Although no one wishes for such an experience, I feel fortunate that my fall occurred near Dr. Herath’s Orthopaedic and Fracture Care Centre. I am immensely grateful to Dr. Herath and his team for laying the strongest foundation for my recovery, providing comfort, strength, and peace of mind.
