    Security Issues at the Hospital

The hospital itself is quite good, and the nurses really take great care of every patient. However, the security staff seem to have a different perspective; they act as if they are doctors and can be quite harsh in certain situations. Today, I had a very frustrating experience with the security team. I parked my bike in an area where there were already several others, but it wasn't clearly marked as a space reserved for doctors. When I parked, the front security guard was present, and I went inside to attend to a seriously ill patient. After being asked by the doctors to fetch some medicine, I returned to find my bike missing. I searched for over ten minutes around the hospital. Eventually, with the help of an attendant, I located it far from where I had originally parked. The security staff had hidden it away. While I was searching, they were just watching me and smiling. My personal belongings were in the bike's cabin, and they had relocated it to a dimly lit area, making me feel very insecure. When I asked them about it, they simply smiled and gave no explanation. When I finally retrieved my bike, I expressed the importance of valuing a vehicle, and they approached me aggressively. While not all security personnel are like this, there are certainly some who are very kind. Ultimately, the lack of responsibility regarding the bike's safety is concerning. If they had just informed me when they saw me parking, I would not have done so.

    Disheartening Experience at the Hospital

I want to share a truly painful and disappointing experience I had at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital on April 1, 2026. A colleague of mine was admitted and spent several days in the ICU in critical condition. Tragically, she passed away that same day, which was emotionally devastating for all of us who cared for her. During my visit to her, I drove to the hospital, but the security staff informed us there was no parking available, despite many empty spaces visible. They claimed all spots were "reserved," yet it was obvious that others were being allowed to park after speaking with the same officers, implying favoritism rather than fairness. This made it seem like the security personnel were overstepping their roles instead of providing assistance during a medical emergency. Another troubling incident occurred when the doctor asked us to urgently bring a PCR kit. After an extensive search, we finally got one and returned to the hospital, only to be denied entry by a female security officer who insisted we needed a pass. I explained that I wasn’t visiting the patient but was delivering a crucial item requested by the doctor, but she refused to listen, resulting in a heated argument. Eventually, I had to send the PCR kit in with someone else. This unnecessary obstruction added to the stress of an already unbearable situation. What affected me the most was witnessing the scene after my colleague’s passing. Her parents were outside the ICU, grieving the loss of their daughter, when I saw a security officer walk by them, frowning and displaying no empathy whatsoever. It was deeply hurtful and disturbing to see such coldness in a hospital, a place where compassion and understanding should prevail, especially during moments of loss. This whole experience has left me extremely disappointed and heartbroken. The behavior of some security officers reflected a total lack of empathy, basic courtesy, and respect for patients and their families. This raises serious concerns about humanity and ethical responsibility within a public healthcare institution. I sincerely hope those who behaved so callously reflect on their actions and understand the emotional toll they take on people during their most vulnerable times. No one should feel powerless, ignored, or disrespected when facing illness, loss, or grief. My experience at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital was profoundly disappointing, and I believe there is an urgent need for improved training in empathy, communication, and public responsibility among hospital security staff.

Referring to Jarama Hospital, is it accurate to claim that one patient turns into two? There is a staff member who can't locate a scan, and a patient who initially walked returns in a wheelchair?

    Exceptional care for tourists

As tourists, we felt completely safe and genuinely cared for at this hospital. The staff were exceptionally kind, professional, and very supportive, clearly explaining everything and assisting us at every step.

The hospital staff seems unprofessional, treating patients poorly. Doctors appear to be indifferent, and the overall experience feels very negative. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of care, especially in a healthcare setting where patients should be prioritized.
