    My mother was suffering from intense back pain, and after a thorough evaluation, Dr. Chandana Herath pinpointed the problem and suggested a laminectomy. Despite the surgery being quite risky, he executed it with remarkable skill and care, resulting in a complete success. Dr. Herath demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and commitment throughout the entire journey. His support and attention before and after the surgery were truly impressive. He has consistently checked on my mother’s recovery, offering timely responses and invaluable advice, which we are really thankful for.     Excellent Experience with Dr. Herath

    I'm a Canadian currently living in Ecuador. For almost a year, I was advised to get a left hip replacement, but I received mixed messages regarding what I needed while in Ecuador, and the costs seemed steep. I then thought about traveling to India, where I'd previously had knee replacements, but faced a very bureaucratic process. A friend who assisted me in India now resides in Sri Lanka and suggested I consider it. Though I hadn't before, we decided to explore this option. Together, we discovered Asiri Hospital Kandy, part of a network of Asiri Hospitals, which she visited. The hospital proved to be a modern facility offering surgical procedures, staffed with friendly individuals, and had hospital ambassadors to help navigate the environment initially. They also had the capacity to accept me as a patient relatively swiftly. Next, I sought a qualified, approachable doctor who could work at the Kandy hospital. Dr. Chandana Herath had a website for his Orthopaedic and Fracture Care Centre in Kandy, featuring details about his services and positive testimonials. He responded promptly to my inquiry, and the hospital confirmed that he had privileges there. Dr. Herath spoke excellent English, and both he and the staff were transparent about the costs related to the hospital, prosthetics, and doctor services, making the payment process relatively straightforward. My first meeting with Dr. Herath took place shortly after I arrived in Sri Lanka in April 2025, and it went smoothly, along with the necessary tests before surgery. Just four days later, I was ready for surgery, which required a three-day hospital stay. Everything went very well, thanks to the attentive nursing care and Dr. Herath personally checking on my recovery. I found affordable accommodation close to the hospital, which made it easy for dressing changes and updates from the doctor. Additionally, the hospital had its own physiotherapy department, and after my discharge, I returned for further guidance on exercise therapy. Their service was kind, professional, and budget-friendly. I spent almost 7 weeks in Sri Lanka, and by weeks 6 and 7, I felt well enough to enjoy various tourist activities, including safaris with my friend. Even during my travels, Dr. Herath kept in touch via WhatsApp to check on my recovery. I was sufficiently healthy to leave the country, but I had always intended to mix tourism with my surgery plans. I essentially traveled alone to the other side of the world to receive care from Dr. Herath and Asiri Hospital in Sri Lanka, where my friend supported me as my caregiver during rehabilitation. The total costs for the hip replacement, including flights and accommodation, were less than what I would have paid for surgery and basic rehab in Ecuador, and significantly lower than in the U.S. or Canada. The service was quick, professional, and efficient, yet also very humane. I felt respected and valued, not just a number, due to the kind and informative treatment I received. I would absolutely recommend this doctor and hospital to anyone seeking prompt, professional healthcare delivered with compassion and friendly smiles.

    Highly recommend Dr. Chandana Herath

    I was dealing with severe knee pain in my right leg and set out to find a reliable doctor. Luckily, I discovered Dr. Chandana Herath. During my first visit, he explained that my knee had deteriorated by about 40% due to my age, as I'm in my late fifties. After a few days of treatment, my knee got to a much more manageable state. However, I later faced a sudden, intense backache after lifting a 20-liter paint container. The pain was excruciating, making it hard for me to get up after sitting. I went back to Dr. Chandana for more treatment, and he quickly helped me feel better, enabling me to return to my normal activities. After these events, I was able to enjoy my regular hiking trips with friends without any issues. Now, I can walk with a backpack for over 20 kilometers without any problems. Dr. Chandana has a very friendly approach with his patients, and I value how he encourages open discussions about my conditions, which is essential for a patient. I highly recommend Dr. Chandana Herath for any concerns related to his specialty, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
