    Wonderful stay with gracious hosts

This family is incredibly welcoming and kind! Their property stands out as the best and cleanest we encountered during our three weeks in Sri Lanka. The bathroom was exceptionally tidy, featuring warm water and all the necessary amenities. The bed was very comfortable, and both the AC and fan operated flawlessly in the spacious room. I especially appreciated the bedside lights for nighttime reading. I highly recommend staying here!

    Great location, but chaotic experience

The location is fantastic! The rooms are basic yet cozy. However, during our family vacation, we reserved the whole complex (two rooms) for two adults and a child via Booking. The trouble started before we even left for Sri Lanka. A young man, the owners' son, reached out asking if we could shift our stay for two days because one room's occupants had extended their visit. Despite my hesitation, we compromised. Both Booking and Airbnb mentioned that both rooms included a kitchen with cooking facilities, which was crucial for us since we were traveling with a child. Then the chaos unfolded... When I requested kitchen utensils, I was told I had to pay 1,000 rupees per day to rent them. This was frustrating since we had already agreed to the room change and hadn’t forced out the longer-staying guests. After we pointed out the Booking.com listing, they finally provided a stovetop and frying pan, but we received no forks or plates. There were cups, but no kettle! 😆 From that moment on, it felt like they were watching us constantly. Every day brought a glimpse of the hosts' unhappy faces. The young man, anxious about reviews, started changing our accommodations and amenities, and by the third day, things took a turn for the worse. Friends, who were also in Hikkaduwa, came to visit us. While we were chatting, we caught the hostess spying on us through the curtains. I had to politely but firmly tell them we had paid and wanted some privacy. They informed us that having guests was against the house rules. Earlier that morning, I had warned the owners' son about our friends visiting and even asked him to cook some shrimp we had bought at the market for 500 rupees. Later, he backtracked, claiming relatives were coming, and ended up suggesting we fry the shrimp at a nearby restaurant for 2,000 rupees per kilogram instead. The night was ruined when the whole family barged in, angrily stating our friends couldn’t stay. That was not our plan at all. They promised to bring new towels in the morning, but when they did, my wife found an email from Booking where the owners accused us of hosting illegal guests and demanded we leave. The house rules didn’t mention this, and no one had even stayed overnight. Furious, I went to settle the bill, and that’s when the owners' son shifted his stance. Fearing a bad review, he tried to cancel our reservation, citing rule violations, not expecting Booking to respond quickly. They then claimed the neighbors were to blame and begged us to stay: "Sorry, sorry, you're our guests, please don’t go..." In the end, it was complete chaos. The only bright side was the stunning ocean. For the rest of our stay, we tried to avoid the hosts while having received a second room. Our reservation was canceled as we were heading inland, and we reached a verbal agreement due to the remaining guests. We were ultimately offered to rebook at a higher price. The promised fruit plate for our child never materialized. Needless to say, we never went back. The place is beautiful, and the rooms are decent, aside from the leaky faucets. The bedding was dry, and the beach was lovely.

    Highly recommended resort stay

We had a fantastic time at this resort and can genuinely recommend it. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome that made us feel right at home. Our room was impeccably clean, well-kept, and comfortable, with a stunning view of the sea that was especially beautiful in the mornings and at sunset. The resort itself is peaceful, tastefully decorated, and ideal for unwinding. The staff was incredibly helpful, attentive, and always greeted us with a smile. It's clear that the hosts genuinely care about their guests' comfort. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and thoughtfully prepared. Throughout our stay, we felt very comfortable and well looked after. As seasoned travelers, we can say this resort ranks among the best accommodations we've experienced. We would love to return and highly recommend it to everyone! The bathroom was also very clean and well-equipped.

    Great Stay in Hikkaduwa

This is one of the best places to stay in Hikkaduwa. It's situated in a quieter part of the beach, away from the crowds. The room is just a few seconds from the beach, and you have your own sun loungers, which is fantastic. The host is incredibly kind and accommodating, and she and her family have other wonderful places to stay nearby. It's just perfect. Thank you!

    Lovely stay with great views

This is a fantastic place to stay. Unfortunately, since it’s off-season, the bar in front was closed. Still, we enjoyed our breakfast in the garden with a serene sea view. Our room was spotless and equipped with everything we needed, including hot water for those who really require it. The pillows and bed were excellent for a good night's sleep. The only thing we wished for was a mosquito net, which could be a useful addition. The host family was very attentive and offered help with everything. The beach was spacious and clean. Several bars and restaurants were open, and we had some great meals, particularly at "NoName," which isn’t on the beach. There’s also a small shop almost directly across from the accommodation for drinks and more. We had an enjoyable experience at the Green Café, which is nearly next door on the beach. The food was delicious, the service friendly, and the atmosphere was great. We can wholeheartedly recommend this place and would love to return.
