Disappointing cancellation experience

Our reservation made back in April 2025 was unexpectedly cancelled the night before we were supposed to arrive due to overbooking. It's quite frustrating that they couldn't manage their guest planning until the last minute. We were basically told to cancel the booking ourselves, and they didn't offer any help in finding alternative accommodations. After that, they completely stopped responding. This level of customer service is not what I would expect. Very disappointing.

Terrible Location and Arrogant Staff

The location is quite dreadful, as it’s far from the center and the road leading there is narrow and risky. The staff were quite arrogant during my visit. Additionally, there’s no air conditioning, despite it being advertised on booking.com and Agoda. Since I was traveling with my 6-year-old daughter, I decided to cancel my reservation after seeing the hotel and opted for a different one instead.

Maintenance Issues at Ollie Resort

I appreciate the honesty in my review. I have nothing against the owner or the property manager—who was very nice—but Ollie Resort really needs a lot of maintenance. Being situated in the jungle, we encountered numerous bugs, lizards, and insects in our room, and there was no one around to assist during nighttime emergencies. The manager did provide a discount, which was thoughtful, and he also arranged for an early breakfast since we had to leave early. However, the overall upkeep of the property needs attention, as these problems can significantly affect tourists. We struggled to get any sleep throughout the night. Getting to the resort was quite a challenge, but the manager helped by organizing a tuk-tuk to assist with our luggage downhill. I want to give a big shout-out to the tuk-tuk driver, who even accompanied us to the hospital at 2 AM during a medical emergency—I'm truly thankful for his help. Until the property receives the necessary improvements and maintenance, I can't recommend staying here, despite the kindness of the manager.

Fantastic service and views

In addition to the stunning view at a very fair price, the service we experienced was outstanding. Kalpa went above and beyond to meet our needs, making sure everything was handled promptly. He made several tuk-tuk trips up and down the hill to transport our luggage since the bus couldn't get down, and even traveled to town to fetch some medication for one person in our group. Overall, a genuinely great person. This place is fantastic.

Cozy retreat with great breakfast

While it's a bit distant from the city center, this spot feels very inviting, with well-kept and clean rooms. The view from the room is fantastic. However, the access from the main road could be better. The owner offers a tuktuk service to help carry your luggage downhill. The breakfast is excellent, and the staff is courteous, making it a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a serene atmosphere.

Fantastic hosting and relaxing vibes

Sampath, Sarath, and Kalpa were excellent hosts during our visit. We had a wonderful time here. The atmosphere is incredibly chill and relaxing, complemented by stunning views. The service from these guys was top-notch, making it a great value for the money. I would definitely come back, 10/10.

Charming cabins with great pillows

I completely fell in love with this place! The A-frame cabins spread across two levels are beautifully designed and have an amazing vibe. Honestly, I wished I could stay longer and didn't want to leave. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the breakfasts were fantastic. I must highlight the pillows: after spending a long time in Sri Lanka, these were by far the most comfortable pillows I've encountered during my entire stay! I adored everything about this place—the design, the atmosphere, and the team. The next time I'm in Ella, I will definitely book these cabins again. Highly, highly recommended!
