Misleading Warranty Experience
I bought a Google Pixel 7 Pro from Magic Mobile Store and added their special extended warranty for an extra Rs. 5,000. The staff assured me that if there was any manufacturing fault, the phone would be sent to the official Google Service Center for repair under the original warranty, and I would receive a spare phone within two weeks while it was being fixed. However, my experience turned out to be quite the opposite. Not long after using the phone, the volume button fell off, which is a known issue with the Pixel 7 Pro. When I went back to the store to make a warranty claim, they initially denied it and asked for Rs. 12,000 for repairs, claiming it wasn’t covered under warranty. I then reached out to Google Support, who confirmed that this issue is indeed covered and advised me to return the phone through the original seller. After presenting this information to the shop owner, they finally agreed to take the phone, but later revealed that they do not send devices to an official Google Service Center. Instead, they sent it to their own third-party provider. (This also applies to Apple products.) This completely contradicts what I was told at the time of purchase. Additionally: 1. I was informed that repairs could take 2–3 months with no promise of a replacement. 2. The spare phone that was promised was never provided. 3. The shop insisted on a full data reset before they would proceed, even though Google Support said it wasn’t necessary for a volume button replacement. When I questioned this, I was told it was their “policy” to reset the phone before returning it, which felt like an excuse to avoid processing my warranty claim. Ultimately, I chose not to use their service and had the volume button repaired at a different shop for just Rs. 2,000, highlighting how unreasonable the Rs. 12,000 charge was. In conclusion, the warranty service offered at the time of purchase felt deceptive, and I advise potential buyers to thoroughly check warranty terms before buying devices from this store.
