Disappointing Service and Faulty Products
Three years ago, I bought a OnePlus 10 Pro from Doctor Mobile in Bambalapitiya. The phone was advertised as brand new and unopened, but I soon noticed the battery was draining unusually fast. After researching, I found out it had a dual-cell battery system, and a third-party app indicated one cell was faulty. When I returned to the store, expecting them to honor their 12-month warranty, the staff refused to even look at the device. They showed no interest in after-sales service or taking responsibility. I decided it was useless to argue, shared my issue, and sold the phone privately, promising myself I wouldn’t return to that store. Recently, I needed a tempered glass for my Galaxy S24 Ultra, and since it was one of the few places open on a Sunday, I reluctantly went back. The assistant quoted me LKR 2,200 and assured me the fingerprint scanner would work flawlessly. However, after installation, the fingerprint barely functioned, and even after re-registering, it remained inconsistent. To add insult to injury, they charged me LKR 2,500 instead of the quoted price, and when I pointed it out, the staff ignored my concern. I was shocked to see the same person who sold me the faulty OnePlus three years ago. After the tempered glass debacle, he nonchalantly said, “Next time you come, I’ll give you a 1,000 discount.” I couldn’t help but laugh and replied, “This is the last time I’ll ever visit this store — I’ll be posting a review on Google and social media to warn others.” After reading other customer reviews, it’s evident that this store has a troubling history of misleading customers by selling refurbished devices as new and overcharging for accessories. If you’re in the market for a phone or accessory, I highly recommend going to Liberty Plaza, where stores like X-Mobiles and Present Solutions are much more professional, transparent, and reliable. I’ve bought all my devices from them in recent years without any issues.
