    Comfortable stay after a rough start

    After a frustrating experience at the nearby Big Game Camp, we checked into Funky Leopard and were immediately relieved to find ourselves in a clean, spacious room. We did have to switch rooms a few times to find one with a functioning shower, as the minerals in the water often clog the pipes. However, the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Given the low price, the amenities are basic, but the service was outstanding—special thanks to Dew for all the assistance.

    Fantastic Stay with Great Safari Experience

    Our two-night stay was incredible, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating! My girlfriend and I arranged a safari through them, and a very knowledgeable staff member guided us through Yala National Park on a half-day safari. We spotted elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles, and even had an amazing encounter with a leopard! We strongly recommend booking with them!

    Charming stay with attentive hosts

    The hosts, Anton, Vinny, and Aruna, truly excel at making guests feel at home while maintaining a delightful atmosphere. This quiet spot exudes a relaxed summer vibe and has an old-school guest house charm. The rooms are tidy and well-kept, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. They even surprised us with a cake to make our anniversary extra special. We had a fantastic two-day stay here and highly recommend it!

    Great Service and Value at Funky Leopard

    Our time at the Funky Leopard was delightful. The hosts truly made an effort to ensure we had a wonderful evening. They assisted us in arranging a Safari with eco tours, which we really enjoyed, as well as our transfers. It was excellent value for the money.

    Great stay with a memorable safari

    We spent two nights at this place and had a fantastic experience. The staff, Winnie and Anton, were incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. We opted for the cottage, which came equipped with all the amenities we needed. Additionally, we organized a full-day safari through them, and it exceeded our expectations! We got to see everything we hoped for, including elephants and leopards, along with much more. While the safari in this region can be a bit on the expensive side, the Funky Leopard ensured we had an unforgettable adventure at a reasonable price. Highly recommend! ❤️

    Our experience at Funky Leopard Safari Lodge was truly fantastic! A big shout-out to Anton and Winine B. for their exceptional care and top-notch service. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel at home, always being friendly, helpful, and professional. The lodge itself is spotless, cozy, and ideally situated for safari adventures. We highly recommend it — we would definitely return! 🐆🌿

    Disappointing Service and Miscommunication

    We spent one night here, and the staff who assisted with our luggage were friendly, but that's about the only positive aspect. We had requested a twin bed room, but instead, we were given a double bedroom. After an hour of discussing the difference between two beds and one double bed, and showing them the online photos that clearly showed a room with two separate beds, they offered us a hostel room that had mold near the AC! We asked for an immediate refund, but they denied our request. Eventually, after another hour, they sent a lady to separate the beds and put the correct bed sheets in the same room we started in! It turned out it was just a matter of changing the sheets, and we were frustrated over an unnecessary hour. But that’s not all! We had booked a private safari tour with a guide. At 5:15 am the next day, just 15 minutes before departure, the guide informed us that we were on a shared safari tour with another couple and without a guide. When he realized how disappointed we were, he asked if we had booked a private tour, showing he had no clue about our reservation! When we returned from the shared safari, the receptionist, a gentleman with a mustache, seemed skeptical about our claim of having a private guide. We were really upset because we had paid an extra $40 per person and didn't receive what we had requested. They showed little concern for this issue and did not offer any refund as a gesture of apology. We can't recommend this place as they appeared disorganized and untrustworthy.

    Unexpected Delight at Funky Leopard

    We stayed overnight at Funky Leopard Safari Lodge while visiting Katharagama Kirivehera, looking for a peaceful escape from the crowds. To our surprise, it turned into a delightful mini-vacation! This was all thanks to the incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive staff. They handled every request with great care and kindness. A big thanks to Anton for his exceptionally welcoming demeanor and for going above and beyond to make us feel at home. Here’s to a fantastic experience!

    Pleasant stay with room for improvement

    Our stay at Funky Leopard was generally enjoyable, featuring a blend of positives alongside some areas needing attention. What we appreciated: • The rooms were tidy and well-prepared; it was a nice touch that the AC was already turned on before we arrived. • The staff were accommodating and helped carry our luggage to our rooms. • We were treated to complimentary tea and biscuits. • There was plenty of parking available, and the property’s secluded location provided a tranquil atmosphere. Areas for improvement: • The bathroom fixtures, including taps and showers, showed quite a bit of rust and require maintenance. • The water pressure on the upper floor was very weak, and hot water had issues. • The access road to the villa was in poor shape; it turned muddy and hard to navigate on rainy days. • The swimming pool, while nice, was a bit far from the rooms and only accessible during the day since there were no lights at night. In summary, Funky Leopard offers a peaceful retreat, but some maintenance and infrastructure upgrades would significantly improve the overall experience.
