The place is quite comfortable and boasts a lovely location. The staff is sweet and friendly, though they seem to lack some training. The food is decent, but the menu could use more creativity. Service was quite slow during my visit. The wine list is impressive, although my first two choices were unavailable, and the third option was exhausted after just one bottle. We had a delightful time at EKHO Lake House. The staff were amazing – warm, approachable, and always eager to assist. Mr. Suresh, in particular, took fantastic care of my family and me, ensuring we had everything we required. The food was superb, genuinely 5-star quality. We also participated in a canoe safari where we spotted elephants, historical ruins, and Bird Island — a true highlight made memorable by the excellent local guides. The hotel itself is gorgeous, featuring a breathtaking lake view that immediately brings a sense of calm. After a very unsatisfactory experience in Sigiriya, we were looking to unwind, and the team here made that possible. We’re departing feeling relaxed, content, and well-rested. I’d recommend this place to anyone seeking a serene and unforgettable getaway.

The rooms were immaculate, stylish, and cozy, making for a perfect retreat with an unbeatable view. The service here is exceptional, and I want to highlight our server, Supun, along with the Resident Manager, Nuwan. Their outstanding hospitality, personal touch, and professionalism truly enhanced our stay. Nuwan's leadership is evident in the property's high standards, while Supun's friendliness and efficiency made each interaction enjoyable. The food was a standout feature of our trip, consistently impressing us with every meal. From the beautifully arranged fresh fruit platters to the golden, crispy waffles, and the rich, authentic Sri Lankan curries served in traditional clay pots, the culinary team's meticulous attention to detail shone through in every dish. Each plate was not only a work of art but delivered fresh, vibrant flavors that were flawlessly executed at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In summary, our entire stay was perfect due to the incredible service from all the staff. The combined effort, genuine warmth, and high level of care from the entire team made this an unforgettable experience. We can't recommend this place highly enough!

Staying at the beautiful Echo Lake House in Polonnaruwa was a real joy. The service was exceptional, and despite our extensive travels, this experience stood out as truly memorable. The hotel has a lot of potential, but the staff lacks the training needed to effectively handle customers. My experience here was quite disappointing right from my arrival. The receptionist was discourteous, and we ultimately had to escalate the matter.

I had a fantastic experience at EKHO Lake House. This former circuit bungalow for British Government Agents has been transformed into a boutique hotel. It's fascinatingly located right in the middle of an archaeological site, with the main Polonnaruwa museum and an ancient King's court just next door. It's a lovely spot to wander among the historical ruins in the evening. I definitely recommend this hotel. Cons: - The restaurant offers a limited menu, and the prices are a bit higher compared to other similar hotels. - The pool is on the smaller side and can only fit three or four people at once.

We stayed just one night, and our room was spotless and well-maintained. It felt great to have carpet underfoot again. The shower was excellent, providing hot water, and the bathroom was a nice size overall. The bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed a beautiful view of the lake.

Suresh at the reception, along with his colleague, was particularly kind, professional, and helpful throughout our visit. Although I can’t recall everyone’s names, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. I’d like to highlight the waiter in the restaurant too, who offered excellent service and was very polite. The food was delicious, fresh, and of high quality, and we savored every meal. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-kept, which contributed to a relaxing ambiance. The housekeeping staff were friendly, respectful, and always willing to assist. Overall, the service was top-notch, and the hospitality surpassed our expectations. Everything from the rooms, food, and staff friendliness was on point. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking great service, friendly staff, comfortable accommodations, and fantastic food. We would definitely be eager to return!
