The host was incredibly friendly. There are currently four apartments available. The rooms are roomy and feature comfortable beds, and each has its own terrace. We also enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Polonnaruwa city is just a short 7-minute tuk-tuk ride away. We would certainly book here again.

Kithmi was the highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, it felt just like home. Hemantha and his sister were incredible hosts, assisting us with every detail of our stay and preparing delicious meals. We mentioned our love for local breakfasts, and the following mornings they treated us to hoppers and dal, so definitely let them know if you prefer local cuisine! The WiFi was excellent, and the air conditioning was just right. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We loved spending time on the balcony, watching the monkeys! The weather in July was lovely. If you're pressed for time, you can explore Pollonaruwa in a single day. Start with the ancient city tour in the morning from 8 to 12, then go for a safari (either Minneriya or Kaudulla) in the afternoon from 1 to 6. There's not much else to do in the area besides reading and enjoying good local food. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return!

This place offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that genuinely feels like home. The property boasts a breathtaking Sri Lankan garden that showcases its natural beauty. The owner is very friendly, and we had a tasty meal while we were there. It's highly recommended and conveniently situated just a few minutes from ancient ruins.

The compound was clean and well-maintained. Our room was spacious, tidy, and nicely decorated. The wifi and air conditioning worked well. The food was excellent and plentiful. The owner took great pleasure in showcasing and explaining various Sri Lankan dishes. He also arranged taxis for us and lent us a bowl for hand washing. The only downside was that our visit coincided with a Buddhist holiday over the weekend, which meant we were awakened early by chanting from the nearby temple. Aside from that, it was an excellent stay.

Since we love traditional breakfasts, they kindly made delicious Sri Lankan hoppers and daal for us each morning. If you enjoy authentic local flavors, make sure to mention it to them – you won't regret it! The amenities were excellent; the WiFi was consistently reliable, and the air conditioning functioned flawlessly. Our room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed unwinding on the balcony, watching the playful monkeys in the trees. The weather in July was also perfect, enhancing the charm of our trip. For those short on time, we learned that you can easily explore Polonnaruwa in a single day: spend the morning (8 AM - 12 PM) discovering the ancient city, then go for an exciting safari (Minneriya or Kaudulla) in the afternoon (1 PM - 6 PM). Additionally, the area provides a tranquil escape ideal for relaxing with a good book and enjoying the fantastic local food. We highly recommend Kithmi and would love to return for another stay!

We spent a night at Kithmi Resort and had a lovely experience. The environment is tranquil, tidy, and well-maintained, complemented by a beautifully cared-for garden that enhances the soothing vibe. The rooms were clean and cozy. The owner is attentive and professional, though he does have several house rules to adhere to. The only drawback was that the gate shuts at 9 PM, so if you plan to stay out late, you’ll need to reach out to the owner beforehand. Overall, it’s a serene and well-run place for a short visit.

We spent a night at this hotel, and overall, it was a decent experience. However, we did notice a few issues. Upon entering our room, there was a musty smell, as if the space had been closed for a while. Additionally, it would be helpful to have a toilet roll in the bathroom, although they did provide one when we asked. We returned late in the evening, close to midnight, and the owner expressed his displeasure quite directly, which felt a bit inappropriate. While we acknowledge it was our fault, he could have shown a bit more patience and politeness regarding the situation. On the positive side, the food was quite delicious and offered at a very reasonable price. The service was also good.
