    Unfriendly staff and poor facilities

This hospital is extremely unprofessional and disappointing. The staff, including the doctors, are mostly unfriendly and seem to think we come here just for free medicine. The ward rooms are in terrible condition. The water for bathing and washing is salty, and it feels like you're at the sea with all the mosquitoes. The beds are straight out of the 1970s. I can't believe this is considered a private hospital.

    Poor standards and hygiene issues

This hospital fails to meet even the most basic standards expected of a healthcare facility. It seems like management is more focused on profit than on providing quality care. They appear to hire underpaid, unqualified teenagers who lack knowledge of essential standards and proper patient communication. The cleanliness is severely lacking, with hygiene standards not being met at all. There are no trolleys or wheelchairs available for emergencies, and the main entrance has stairs, making it inaccessible for wheelchair users. Additionally, the ground floor restrooms are filthy, reminiscent of public bus station toilets. The Health Ministry needs to step in and conduct a thorough review before renewing the licenses of such hospitals.

    Slow Drug Issuing Process

The drug issuing process is quite slow, and many patients end up waiting a long time after seeing their doctors. There are three drug issuing counters, but only one is operational. I believe that if two counters were in use, this issue could be resolved. Thank you!

    Excellent medical facility in Puttalam

Balasuriya Hospital is a trustworthy and impressive medical center. The facility boasts modern infrastructure, and the staff demonstrate exceptional attentiveness and care. I was especially struck by the team's professionalism and their prompt response time. This hospital is an essential healthcare provider for the residents of Puttalam. I highly recommend it for dependable medical services.

    Frustrating experience with Balasooriya Hospital

I'm incredibly frustrated with Balasooriya Hospital in Puttalam! I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes trying to reach them on their hotline, but not a single call was picked up. If this is their approach to handling customer inquiries, I can only dread what their actual services must be like. I'm very disappointed! I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

    Exceptional Care at Balasooriya Hospital

We took our son to Balasooriya private hospital in Puttalam late at night due to severe abdominal pain while traveling in the area. Unsure of where to go, we called ahead and were informed he would be seen by the OPD doctor. Upon our arrival, the nurses welcomed us and asked us to wait near the doctor's room. Dr. Shazil, the doctor on duty, came shortly after and was incredibly kind. He quickly assessed my son, made an accurate diagnosis, and provided treatment right there. My son was comfortable and pain-free soon after. We are immensely grateful to Dr. Shazil and the nurses for their professionalism and compassion. They greeted us with smiles in the middle of the night, which really helped ease our worries. The OPD fee was quite reasonable, including the medication costs. I highly recommend this hospital, especially for travelers needing after-hours care.

    Service Improvement Noted at Hospital

I visited after about 3-4 years and noticed that the service at OPD and Pharmacy has improved. It would be helpful to display token numbers for pharmacy customers in a visible spot to reduce crowding at the counter. Additionally, many of the notices and stickers need updating, as the winner's list from 2018 is still on display on the first floor. I think the hospital's vision could use some revision. As for parking, there is free parking available, but the ground is uneven and muddy. There is also a paid parking option right in front of the hospital entrance.

    Disappointing first visit experience

We were told to arrive at 6 p.m. and made it on time, but the doctor showed up early. The front desk provided us with misleading information, forcing us to wait until all the earlier patients had been seen. Chilaw Balasooriya only calls patients in order. The nurse was unclear about the procedure and rudely told me to sit down in front of others. When I sought clarification, she snapped at me. This was particularly upsetting as it was my first experience at a private hospital. It felt like we were treated as if we were receiving free care, lacking any compassion. This behavior is unbecoming of a nurse and shows a lack of proper communication with patients. Additionally, there was a long wait at the pharmacy. Overall, my first visit was disappointing, and I won’t be returning. I advise others to be cautious of the nurse in room 126.

    Poor bathroom conditions

I accompanied a friend and their young child to Puttalam Balasooriya Hospital for a pediatric appointment. Sadly, the state of the bathroom was quite unacceptable. There was a strong, unpleasant smell, and it was evident that it hadn't been cleaned or maintained adequately. Additionally, the mirror in the bathroom was filthy and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time.
