    Impressive improvements in patient care

I've been to this government hospital three times, and I can say that it has really improved since my early 20s. It's encouraging to see our Sri Lankan government hospitals offering quality care with compassion and personalized attention, similar to what private hospitals provide.

    Disappointing Experience at Vavniya Hospital

I went to Vavniya to get a medical report, but after four days, I still hadn't received it. Other hospitals typically provide reports within two days at most. The staff here operate at a very low standard, and I cannot recommend this place again. It’s considered one of the worst hospitals in Sri Lanka now. It used to be one of the best a few years back, but now Kilinochchi hospital is better than Vavniya. Public services in lab (urine), eye, and X-ray sections are quite poor, though I found the skin, dental, and neuro sections to be good.

    Helpful staff and attractive buildings

The staff is quite helpful, and the buildings have an appealing design. Patients receive care and attention, which is commendable. However, the watchmen occasionally struggle to manage visiting relations during off hours, leading to misunderstandings, although they handle these situations politely.

Avoid this hospital at all costs

I strongly advise against bringing your loved ones to this hospital. It feels like a place where patients may not leave alive, and some even end up with severe complications, such as life-threatening infections contracted during their stay. The doctors and nurses seem more focused on their own tasks and paperwork. Meanwhile, patients are left lying in beds, soaked in urine and stool, while specialists rush through obligatory visits just to move on to more lucrative private hospital work. Although the government has equipped this facility to serve the public, its management is severely lacking.

    Terrible Time Management at Hospital

The time management here is absolutely dreadful. Are there any doctors working at this place? I've been waiting for three hours just for a consultation! The doctor showed up briefly wearing a helmet and then left, claiming he had a meeting—at home or at his private clinic? What kind of time management is that? Do they really think we have nothing better to do? Government hospitals are the worst; they treat us like we're third-class citizens.

Excellent Service at Waunia General Hospital

I visited the eye clinic at Waunia General Hospital. The service was outstanding, with no time wasted. Many of the staff are Tamil, which makes me proud as a Sri Lankan.

    Poor service at Vavuniya hospital

I arrived at the blood sample testing station at the government hospital in Vavuniya at 11:30 am, but there was no one at the counter. An employee finally showed up at 12:15 and told me to return at 14:00. It's concerning that there was no prior notice about the later arrival time. Please notify the authorities about this issue; they should be dedicated to serving the public. Thank you!

Even during busy periods, the staff managed patient care with professionalism. The hospital's facilities were clean and well-maintained. I genuinely appreciate their commitment and effort in serving the community. Thank you for the excellent service!
