Disorganized and Unprofessional Care
My experience at Cooperative Hospital Gampaha was both disappointing and stressful. I went there in the morning because of chest pain, and the doctor ordered an ECG. Unfortunately, what followed was complete chaos and unprofessional conduct. Initially, the ECG machine malfunctioned. The staff mentioned that someone had changed its settings and then tried to fix it by looking up instructions on their phone. After waiting for a considerable time, they brought in a second ECG machine, which also lacked the necessary clips. They wasted more time searching for those clips. Once they finally took the ECG, they abruptly claimed there was a “huge difference” and hurried to send it to the doctor. While disconnecting the wires, one staff member even asked me, “Did I connect these to you?” I was taken aback and had to remind them, “I’m the patient, not the professional.” This level of disorganization and carelessness is completely unacceptable, especially when it comes to chest pain, which can be serious. The absence of proper equipment, preparation, and professionalism left me feeling anxious and unsafe. I sincerely hope the hospital management takes steps to train their staff and improve the handling of patients and medical equipment. This is not the standard of care anyone should have to endure.
