Exceptional food near the beach

I had a fantastic stay just steps from the beach at Trinco Diyash Beach Hotel, which boasts a relaxing vibe and stunning surroundings. The hotel is newly constructed, spotlessly clean, and features spacious rooms. The highlight of my experience was definitely the food. Chef Dilakshi prepared dishes that were remarkable—full of authentic local spices and vibrant Sri Lankan flavors, with each meal being fresh, well-balanced, and incredibly satisfying. Prashanthi, the Front Office Manager, along with the rest of the staff, were wonderfully welcoming, friendly, and attentive during my visit. This place is an ideal choice for anyone who loves genuinely flavorful cuisine in a tranquil coastal environment!

Spacious rooms but some inconveniences

The rooms are large, tidy, and well-kept. The bed linens and mattress were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning functioned perfectly. We enjoyed a pleasant two-day stay here. The staff were friendly and attentive. However, there were some issues with communication when it came to ordering food, and the options available didn't quite match what was advertised. While the food choices were limited, they were decent enough. It's convenient to have dining options on-site, though it feels a bit pricey for what’s offered. Breakfast is served at 8:00 or 9:00, which can be a bit of a hassle if you want to get an early start on activities. Fortunately, one day the staff made an effort to arrange breakfast for us at 7:00. A significant drawback is the wedding hall situated on the access road. When events are happening, guests often block the way with their parked vehicles, showing little regard for others. We even had to wait outside for 45 minutes one day because a truck was unloading rice sacks for the wedding hall. Although the beach is only a short 30-meter walk away, it’s more of a fishing area and unfortunately, it's quite dirty with numerous stray dogs around. Despite these drawbacks, it could still be a good choice for someone seeking a comfortable room-only stay in Trinco.

Spacious rooms but service issues

This hotel offers roomy accommodations and spotless bathrooms. The location is great, and parking is excellent. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The receptionist gave me the wrong bank account details for the transfer, which caused significant trouble. They don't take card payments yet, so make sure to bring cash. There's also no elevator, so be ready to lug your bags up the stairs. The staff could use more training. There's a lot of potential here, but the management of staff and payment processes needs improvement.

New hotel with great potential

The Trinco Diyash Hotel is a new establishment with modern furnishings, a comfy bed, and well-equipped rooms. It offers a beautiful view of the sea and the nearby fishing beach. Located 3 km from the tourist center in Uppuveli, which has various restaurants, a tuk-tuk is necessary for that journey. The owner of the hotel is very welcoming and accommodating. However, the service at the hotel still needs improvement: our room wasn't cleaned, towels were only replaced when we asked, and the patio furniture went missing twice, which was quite frustrating. Given that it’s a new hotel still getting organized, we’re willing to overlook some of these issues. Overall, it shows great promise.

Fantastic beach resort experience

We had an outstanding stay at this beach resort! The staff were incredibly accommodating, warm, and truly kind during our time there. The food was simply delicious, and the rooms were better than we expected considering the price. The property provides great value for money, wonderful hospitality, and an overall fantastic experience. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing beach escape!

Disappointing hotel management experience

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've encountered. Upon our arrival, there was no staff to greet us or check us in. We had to look for someone and eventually found trainees who told us that the manager and other staff were out. These trainees seemed completely unprepared to assist guests, lacked even basic customer service skills, and appeared to avoid engaging with us. Our driver had to direct them on what needed to be done. The reception area had an off-putting smell, which set a negative tone right away. We were promised hot water in our room, but that was simply not the case, as we only had cold water during our stay. The room also lacked basic amenities like soap and even a chair. There was no room service number or any means to contact staff if we needed help. At check-in, no one explained any of the hotel facilities, services, or room features. Throughout our stay, not a single staff member checked in on us or inquired if we wanted breakfast or dinner. In fact, for most of our time there, there was no staff presence at all. The room itself was passable, with working air conditioning and a fan, but the overall experience suffered due to the lack of service and attention to detail. Additionally, there was debris on the outside terrace, highlighting poor maintenance. The room listing was misleading as well. It claimed there was a sea view, yet there was none from inside the room. To see the ocean, guests had to leave the room and step onto a front or rear balcony area (only the top-floor rooms have a proper sea view). The checkout was just as frustrating as check-in. Once again, there was no staff available in the morning. We had to search for someone and finally told a young boy that we couldn’t wait for staff to arrive because we had to leave. We couldn’t make our payment at the property since no authorized staff member was present. We agreed over the phone to transfer the payment later due to poor internet connectivity, but we were constantly called and interrupted throughout the day. The lack of management, absence of staff, poor communication, misleading advertising, and failure to meet basic hospitality standards made this stay quite disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone seeking professional service or a well-managed hotel experience.
