    Well-Organized Government Service

    I needed to renew my driver’s license and went there on December 17, 2025. It had been 13 years since I last visited a government office, and I could see that the current government has implemented a well-organized system. Great job to the employees working there; keep up the good work! I’m giving it 4 stars for a few reasons: - It would be helpful if instructions were available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. - The seating area in Hall Two could benefit from being in a building to protect customers from the rain. - Installing digital screens in all three languages across from Hall Two would make it easier for those who don’t speak Sinhala to understand information.

    Efficient and Quick Medical Service

    I had a quick and efficient experience, getting in and out in just under an hour. I made my appointment online, which I highly recommend for saving time. I arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule and was seen immediately without any wait. Those with online bookings were prioritized on the ground floor for height and weight measurements, followed by registration and payment, then blood tests. After that, I was directed to the first floor for a checkup by the medical officers that included eyesight, blood pressure, and a light physical examination of my hands and legs. The online appointment cost Rs 114/-, but I ended up paying 1500/- at the counter. I received a text confirming the completion of my medical tests right after the check-up. Great job, keep it up! 👍⭐

    Efficient Medical Service Experience

    I had an excellent experience getting my medical evaluation for a driving license. The process was quick and efficient. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional; they clearly know what they're doing and execute their tasks well. This was truly the best encounter I've had with a government service. Everything was well-organized, and I greatly appreciated how smoothly everything went. I highly recommend scheduling an online appointment beforehand. It’s much more convenient and will save you time.

    Efficient license renewal process

    While living abroad, I needed to renew my expired Sri Lankan driving license without an e-appointment. I showed up early in the morning and managed to finish everything in just two hours, with very little wait time. I truly valued the efficiency of the service. That said, it was occasionally unclear which unit I was supposed to go to next, and there wasn't much communication to help guide applicants through the various steps. In the end, I found the overall experience satisfactory.

    Smooth Experience at NTMI Nugegoda

    I had a really great experience today at the National Transport Medical Institute in Nugegoda. My appointment was scheduled for 14/05/2026 at 10:37 AM for renewing my driving licence, and my token number was 38. I arrived around 10:00 AM and finished the entire renewal process in about two and a half hours. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, always serving with a smile. Their service was excellent and truly appreciated. Here are a few helpful tips for others: • Make sure to book your appointment online before going. • There are two points for card payments — one for registration and another for paying for the temporary driving licence. • Double-check your name and address before making the final payment. If there’s any error, let them know right away, as corrections can cost an extra LKR 500. • The process is well-organized, with numbered sections that guide you through each step. • After registering, they check your blood group, and then you go up to the 1st floor. • Your token number and the doctor’s room number will be shown on a screen for the physical test. • Once the medical test is done, you’ll get an SMS sent to your registered phone number. • Finally, you head back to the ground floor for the last payment and pick up the temporary driving licence, which lasts for 2 years. Overall, it was a smooth and well-managed process. Thank you to all the staff at NTMI Nugegoda for the wonderful service.

    Efficient Driving License Renewal Experience

    I found my visit to NTMI Nugegoda quite impressive. The entire process is well-structured and easy to follow. I went there to renew my driving license after scheduling an online appointment, which allowed me to receive priority treatment. I highly recommend making an online appointment beforehand, as this eliminates any waiting time. Without an appointment, you will have to wait in Hall No.2. For those with online bookings, you can head straight to Hall No.1 and inform the officer there about your appointment, and they will assist you. It might be a little overwhelming for first-timers to locate the right area, but you can manage it with some guidance. You can pay for the medical exam, which costs Rs.1500, using either cash or a card. However, it's crucial to have a bank card since the final payment at Hall No.8 must be made by card. One important note is that you can only collect a temporary driving license from this location, with a limit of 300 issued each day. NTMI usually sends your driving license within 3 to 10 months, but if you need it on the same day, you'll have to visit Werahara.

    Great service for medical check-up

    I visited this place for the first time and was really impressed by the service. I booked my medical check-up online through e-channeling to save time. The online appointment cost Rs. 114/-, while the check-up at the counter was Rs. 1,500/-. They also offer the option to apply for a driving license on-site, which costs Rs. 3,500/-. Note that they only accept card payments. The temporary license is good for two years, and they informed me that the original license would arrive in about eight months 🤞. Overall, I received excellent service along with helpful guidance.

    Efficient Process for Medical Appointments

    I scheduled my appointment using e-channelling, which gives you priority during registration and medical appointments in the building. It's important to arrive on time or even a bit earlier. A staff member will guide you at the entrance. When it’s your turn, they’ll open the door for you, and you’ll need to show your appointment message or provide your appointment number to get a token. Next, head to registration, labeled as 04, where you’ll be prioritized. Make sure to fill in your phone number on the token, so bringing a pen is a good idea. You’ll also need to write down the location where you’ll receive your license; mine was Werahara. After registration, you’ll pay the medical fee of 1500 Rs at cashier number 05. After that, proceed to the laboratory, marked as number 06, for your blood test, which is done quickly with no waiting. Following that, you’ll go upstairs for the medical assessment. Your number will be shown on screens to direct you to a room. You'll need to wait until your number is called, and ladies will be prioritized during the assessment. It's advisable to wear simple footwear like slippers since you’ll need to remove your shoes. Also, be prepared to fold your trousers up to your knees, so opt for something easy to manage. During the assessment, they’ll check your eyesight as well as examine your legs, hands, and fingers. Once everything is done, your medical report will be sent to your phone via message. If you’re renewing your license, you’ll need to go to room number 08, the DMT office, to submit your report; if not, you can skip this step. When making an appointment or attending the examination, simply showing or mentioning your received message suffices. Don’t forget to bring your NIC for the medical. If you’re renewing your license, you must have both your NIC and your previous license. If you’re using a passport, be sure to bring a photocopy to present for the renewal.

    Efficient and Friendly Service

    I visited the National Transport Medical Institute today, Tuesday, 19.05.2026, and I was genuinely impressed by how organized and efficient the service was. The entire process was very systematic, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and there was hardly any time wasted. I had an e-channeling appointment, and I recommend everyone to book an appointment beforehand since it’s affordable at just Rs. 144.00. Anyone can easily access this service by calling 255. I also observed that even the regular process was running smoothly. Overall, it was a much better experience than I anticipated. Thanks to the NTMI team for the outstanding service.

    Efficient and Impressive Service

    I visited the National Transport Medical Institute in Nugegoda on June 25, 2026, after making my appointment online via the e-Channeling system. My appointment was set for 9:56 AM, and everything started on schedule. The whole medical examination took under an hour, and I received my temporary driving license at the same location within another hour. In total, I spent about 2 hours for the complete process, which was quite impressive. The service was organized, efficient, and professionally run. The medical and supporting staff were friendly, helpful, and polite throughout. I highly recommend making an online appointment before your visit to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience. A few tips for future visitors: Only 300 tokens are issued each day. Payments can be made by card. I extend my sincere gratitude to the NTMI team and all the government officials involved in delivering such an efficient public service.
