If you truly care about your pet, please reconsider taking them to this place. The veterinarian does not examine pets thoroughly before providing treatments and seems more focused on money than on proper care.

In April 2025, I took my Rottweiler, Kylie, to Dr. Amal at Dr. Pet Clinic in Kandy, the vet we regularly relied on. She had swollen legs and wounds. We inquired about a blood test, and he agreed, collecting just one EDTA tube of blood. At that time, we didn’t know that EDTA tubes are only suitable for complete blood counts and not for accurate liver or chemistry tests. We trusted our vet to follow the correct procedures. He then recommended Sahana Labs on Peradeniya Road for testing. The lab assistant immediately informed us that it was impossible to conduct both a full blood count and a liver function test from a single EDTA tube. Only after Dr. Amal contacted them did the assistant reluctantly agree to proceed. The results came back “normal,” but they were based on an inappropriate sample, making the liver results unreliable. Months later, Kylie’s condition worsened rapidly. When we consulted another vet, Dr. Milinda in Gohagoda, she was diagnosed with liver damage that had advanced to cirrhosis, a condition that could have been manageable if detected earlier. Unfortunately, it was too late, and Kylie, who was only 3 years old, passed away. Nothing can reverse what happened or bring her back. The damage was irreversible and preventable. This experience has left me devastated and convinced that the initial mismanagement and improper testing delayed her diagnosis and treatment, ultimately costing Kylie her life. I'm sharing this to raise awareness among other pet owners about the importance of proper sample collection and testing for their pets. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS PLACE🙏🙏

Three months before our Rottweiler passed away, we took her to see Dr. Amal because she showed clear early signs of liver disease—swollen legs and a sudden scar. Unfortunately, he dismissed these symptoms as merely due to a "high temperature" and overlooked the possibility of something more serious. We did our utmost to seek early treatment, but even the initial blood tests were mishandled. The lab he suggested, Sahana, initially refused to conduct serum tests from a single EDTA tube, then called him and proceeded, which reputable labs confirm is not proper procedure. When her abdomen later swelled, getting urgent care took longer than it should have, requiring us to call multiple times. I am profoundly disappointed by this negligence, which ultimately cost her life and is a memory that will stay with me forever.
