The food here is incredibly special and tasty. It's traditional yet has its own unique flair. The owner is extremely friendly, warm, and attentive. I highly recommend supporting this clever new restaurant.

We stumbled upon Ants House and immediately felt at home. The owner greeted us with complimentary homemade banana chips, and we enjoyed a couple of beers while watching an artist capture the vibrant colors of Sri Lanka. He shared his journey of transitioning from a full-time chef in a large hotel to pursuing his dream of a fusion kitchen in his cozy seaside restaurant. We returned twice, savoring the fantastic food and engaging conversations with him. On our final night in Sri Lanka, he prepared an array of vegetarian curries that were simply stunning—we couldn't have imagined a more perfect way to conclude our trip! THANK YOU once more for everything.. 🧡

I arrived at 10pm hoping to grab a bite, and what I received just 20 minutes later was nothing short of a feast! Sanju, who is a joy to chat with, is also a remarkable chef. I strongly recommend the chicken curry, the dahl, and honestly, everything else I tried. The masala chai is also the best I’ve had in years. It’s delicious, local, and I will certainly return. Do yourself a favor and visit this place to satisfy your hunger!

I enjoyed some incredible local vegetarian dishes here! The host prepared everything fresh and offered an impressive variety. He was incredibly kind and welcoming, which is often hard to find, especially when looking for local vegetarian options. It was a great combination! I highly recommend this place; I can't even pick a favorite dish!

What a wonderful experience! From the incredible food to the chef's warm hospitality, everything was spot on. We enjoyed the grilled octopus and chicken curry, both of which were fantastic. Additionally, the chef surprised us with some homemade banana bread and introduced us to his pet bunny, Kiri :)

We arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday for dinner. It appeared that most tourists visit the Doctors House, so they weren't anticipating customers, but they promptly prepared a fantastic variety of curries for us. The staff was incredibly kind, and the food was excellent!

I can't recommend this place highly enough! Ant is such a wonderful guy—he served us fresh cassava crisps while we waited for our food. My friend and I shared the black pork curry and the tofu curry, and it was incredible! Every element of the dish was beautiful, bursting with fantastic flavors, clearly made with love and care, and the presentation was stunning! Be sure to stop by and try some of his dishes!

We tried the tofu curry and veggie tempura, and it was absolutely beautiful! We returned as soon as we could. Ant puts so much love into his food and does an incredible job. Plus, he is really friendly, which made us feel very at home. Thank you so much, Ant! We will definitely come back!

I ducked into Ant's chef house to escape a sudden monsoon and I'm so glad I did. It's a real gem in this peaceful area. Ant is not only a wonderful chef but also a delightful person to chat with. The jumbo prawn salad was absolutely incredible. As a budget traveler, I found it very affordable, and I plan to return many more times to sample as much of the menu as I can. Edit: I can confirm that the BBQ chicken burger with sweet potato fries is also fantastic. Edit 2: I keep coming back for more; you have to try the Sri Lankan pork curry!

The food was incredible, the atmosphere delightful, and our host was truly charming. Ant’s chef house is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic, fresh Sri Lankan cuisine. During our first dinner, we tried the pork curry and chicken kottu, both of which were delicious! We enjoyed our meal so much that Ant invited us to join him for a cooking lesson on our last evening. He guided us in preparing fish curry, Dahl, coconut sambol, and jackfruit curry paired with coconut roti. The outdoor setup was lovely, allowing us to soak in the sunset and sea view. I would highly recommend dining at Ant’s!!
