While staying at the Layback hotel, we found ourselves having lunch and dinner there multiple times due to the amazing food; there's a fantastic variety, incredible flavors, and generous portions. The evening atmosphere is delightful, both on the rooftop and inside. It’s no wonder it’s regarded as one of the best rooftops in Weligama.

I spent a week at Layback for surfing and yoga, and the café's food was undoubtedly a highlight of my experience! From coffee and drinks to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, everything is crafted with great attention to detail and tastes (and looks) fantastic! The interactions with the team members were also exceptional 🥰—everyone is incredibly friendly, professional, and has a wonderful approach to guests. I highly recommend checking it out!

The rooftop area has a pleasant atmosphere, and while my friend found the dumplings to be satisfactory, my experience was less so. I attempted to order a smoothie bowl in the evening, despite the menu indicating it's only available until 3pm. When they informed me that it wasn't possible, I opted for a regular smoothie featuring the same ingredients, which left me puzzled as to why they couldn't prepare it in a bowl. Additionally, the banana bread was quite unappetizing, and the cream that accompanied it was not enjoyable either.

The Layback Rooftop Cafe is an amazing spot with tasty food, a wonderful atmosphere, and excellent service. I spent many leisurely mornings here, savoring a hearty breakfast, while reading and reflecting, accompanied by some fantastic coffee and shakes. It’s definitely a place you shouldn’t miss if you’re in Weligama. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to discover plenty of flavorful and delicious veggie options. My favorites include the Layback brunch bowl, Cauliflower bites, Island burger, and watermelon coconut juice.

The food and drinks at this place are exceptional. I've always enjoyed visiting. The rooftop offers a cozy atmosphere, ideal for watching the sunset while sipping a tasty cocktail and enjoying some nice background music. I will definitely return!

The food here is amazing! They offer a blend of Sri Lankan and Western dishes. Their strawberry matcha is the best you'll find in Weligama! If you’re staying here for camp, they provide family dinners and breakfasts twice a week, and it’s some of the finest Sri Lankan cuisine you’ll experience. I highly recommend it, 10/10!

During my two-week stay, Cafe Layback quickly became my favorite spot, consistently impressing me. The cozy rooftop offers a relaxing vibe, and the food is always fantastic, especially the fresh breakfast bowls, delicious burgers, chicken teriyaki bowl, and the cheesecake, which is a must-try! The drinks are equally delightful, featuring excellent matcha, coffee, and fantastic cocktails. What really sets this place apart is the friendly and welcoming staff. I can’t wait to return, hopefully soon!

It's been five months since we returned from Sri Lanka, and not a single day passes without us reminiscing about the food at Layback Cafe in Weligama. My partner and I spent Christmas 2025 at Layback Surf Camp and found ourselves dining here frequently—having breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner on several occasions as well. The ambiance of the place is fantastic. The interior feels spacious and laid-back, featuring bare industrial-style walls, wooden tables, and plenty of greenery, along with a rooftop seating area complete with umbrellas that were a blessing in the heat. The staff was exceptional—everyone was friendly and accommodating, contributing to a warm and relaxed atmosphere. And the food? Absolutely delicious! As travelers who prefer plant-based options, we were truly spoiled for choice. We're still longing for the mushroom burgers and cauliflower tacos, and we became completely hooked on the drinks, ordering a Ceylon Kick lemonade and the South Coast smoothie every single day. Layback Cafe turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip. We already know we'll be returning SOON, and we've got our first orders in mind.

I spent a week at Layback Café and Surf Camp, and I really enjoyed the café and the rooftop terrace. The food was top-notch, and they serve the best oat flat whites in Weligama. They offer plenty of vegan choices; the smoothie bowls were fantastic, and the cashew vegan curry was incredible. The staff truly enhance the experience, as everyone is super friendly and always eager to assist. They also have happy hour for their signature cocktails and excellent food deals, making it a great value for what you get. With the combination of the atmosphere, the staff, and the food, it's definitely a place to visit if you're in Weligama—you won't be let down. 😋 🌊
