    Charming Indian Flavors in Matale

    One of my favorite spots for takeout in Matale has a unique charm that keeps me returning. I really enjoy the authentic Indian flavors they provide. Dishes like Biriyani, Naan, Chicken Kurma, Butter Chicken, and Butter Prawns consistently please my palate. What impresses me the most is the affordability of the prices along with the generous portion sizes. It's wonderful to indulge in such tasty meals without breaking the bank. I highly recommend trying the Mumbai Masala; it has truly won me over!

    Disappointing Tandoori Chicken Briyani

    I ordered a Tandoori Chicken Briyani for 1350/= for the standard portion. Unfortunately, the Briyani lacked flavor and was almost mushy. The chicken serving was quite small and also bland. I won't be returning to this restaurant.

    I took my family to Mumbai Masala Indian Restaurant in Matale, but sadly, our visit was quite disappointing. The food didn't meet expectations, the service was lacking, and the restaurant itself was not clean. Overall, we left feeling unsatisfied and hope they can enhance their food quality, service, and cleanliness.

    Disappointing experience at the café

    I've frequented this café several times, but after today, I've decided it's time to stop. I ordered the Mumbai Special Rice and a Butter Naan, but what I got was incredibly disappointing. The special rice was just a plate of plain rice overloaded with carrots and vegetables—there was no real flavor, no balance, and absolutely no meats like chicken, cuttlefish, prawns, or fish. We had requested to exclude beef, but we expected a typical special rice dish. The Butter Naan was just as misleading. What I received was a plain paratha, lacking butter and not resembling what was promised on the menu. If you're offering specific dishes, they should be made correctly with the right ingredients. For instance, a “special rice” should include chicken, cuttlefish, prawns, fish, and sausages, along with the necessary spices. Similarly, Nasi Goreng should have the authentic seasoning and protein that define it. It honestly seems like your chef has never tasted the food on your own menu. If that's the case, I highly recommend that they visit reputable cafés or restaurants in Colombo or Kandy to experience how these dishes are traditionally prepared. Customers who dine at your café are likely familiar with food from other places. They have an understanding of what quality is and expect value for their money. Please don't operate cafés merely for the name—provide food that is fair, honest, and worth the price. This is just my sincere feedback.

    Excellent North Indian Dining Experience

    This is a top-notch North Indian restaurant located in Matale. The customer service is incredibly friendly, and the service itself is very quick. They offer an air-conditioned dining area on the first floor, while the ground floor has fans. The place is spotless, tidy, and offers a calm, family-friendly atmosphere. You can pay with either cash or card, which is convenient. The prices are reasonable, and the food tastes fantastic. However, there's limited parking space right in front of the restaurant.

    Lovely dining experience with great food

    I recently dined here and was really impressed! The dining space is beautifully decorated and cooled, making for a cozy environment. They even have two large tables that are great for dining with friends or family. The menu offers a fantastic selection of food and drinks. We sampled the naan roti, which was truly delicious! Prices are fair, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. This is definitely a spot I’d love to visit again!

    Our group enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Mumbai Masala. The food was outstanding, filled with genuine Indian flavors and masterfully balanced spices. The Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, simply delicious, and went perfectly with the soft, freshly baked naan.     Mixed Experience with Lackluster Service

    This restaurant offers a casual dining experience, but the waiter seemed clueless about the menu. When we inquired about the ingredients in their special rice and its nutritional value, his response was vague—"everything is added." This was misleading since beef and prawns weren’t included in the description, making the special rice overpriced. The nasi goreng tasted like plain yellow rice, although the biryani and chicken fried rice were decent. I really should have advised the waiter to provide clearer answers to customers.🤌🙂
