    Disappointing Care at EMS Hospital

    I recently had a very unsatisfactory experience at EMS Hospital. The staff failed to provide adequate care and attention to patients. There was a noticeable absence of basic courtesy, and their behavior came off as rude and unprofessional. It felt as though patients weren’t treated with the respect or concern they deserve. Regrettably, the overall service was worse than what I've encountered even in government hospitals. Such conduct from hospital staff is unacceptable, especially in a setting where individuals seek medical assistance and care. I sincerely hope the management of the hospital takes this complaint seriously and ensures that staff receive the necessary training to enhance patient care and communication.

    Concern over hospital management

    We visited the hospital yesterday and had a terrible experience. It seems that the CEO, Eric, is retaliating against the older nurses. I heard that he's been threatening to fire them. Apparently, he had a disagreement with our translation nurse, which is very troubling. Bringing in new nurses to replace the experienced ones could spell disaster for the hospital. Four new nurses were brought in yesterday to take over the role of the old translator nurse, and they don’t even know how to properly apply medicine to wounds. We urge the management to pay attention and take the necessary actions. If people like Eric are in charge, it could jeopardize patient care.

    Quality care in a modern setting

    This hospital is home to many specialized doctors who are dedicated to providing excellent care for their patients. With its modern design and well-equipped facilities, it meets a variety of healthcare needs. I used to take my mother here for treatment. However, it would be helpful for both frequent patients and regular visitors if the room rates and other fees could be reduced.

    Outstanding Care at EMS Hospital

    I was admitted to EMS Hospital on January 27, 2026, in ward No 315, and I received exceptional care and support during my stay. The staff members were polite, helpful, and enthusiastic about their duties. I truly appreciate the management for choosing and maintaining such dedicated personnel, and I hope this level of service continues in the future. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the EMS doctors for their remarkable service. They treated patients with great care and professionalism, showing no concern for time, and ensured the best possible treatment. Thank you to the Management, Doctors, and staff of EMS Hospital for your commendable service. Long life to EMS, and God bless you all.

    Good location, poor service experience

    The location is nice, with a beautiful view of the lagoon on one side and the sea on the other. The hospital building looks good and offers several amenities, but the staff seems poorly trained and lacks proper knowledge in their fields. While the machinery is functional, the employees are not fully knowledgeable about operating them and rely on others for assistance. I saw two staff members playing with an air spray in the elevator while patients had no space to stand. We had to wait for hours for the right staff to arrive for basic tests, and you must pay upfront without any guarantee of a refund. Patients often wait too long for doctors because they're said to arrive earlier than they actually do. Additionally, the booking fee is higher than at other hospitals in Batticaloa. I spent over three hours there, observing these issues.

    Compassionate Care with Room for Improvement

    The doctors and staff at this hospital provide excellent service. They don't just treat patients; they show genuine care and respond quickly, almost as if the patients were their own family. Their enthusiasm and seriousness resemble the attention they would give to their own parents when they are unwell. Every staff member is kind and greets patients with a smile. I’m sharing this as someone who is very pleased with their care. However, it would be beneficial if they could work on reducing patient wait times.

    Great care but needs improvements

    On March 23, 27, and 30, 2026, we visited EMS Hospital for consultations. The nurses treated us with exceptional kindness and provided excellent care and guidance. The presence of such a facility in Batticaloa is truly a blessing and has greatly benefited me. However, there are aspects that could use some enhancement. 1) The nurses were very attentive, thank you! 2) The guidance we received was excellent, thank you! 3) Just as there is a prayer room, it would be helpful to have a designated area for food, particularly for those traveling from afar. 4) Time management needs improvement; since we traveled a long distance, we had to endure lengthy waits, so I urge you to consider this. 5) We attempted to use the restroom over the three days, but it was not well-maintained, had a foul odor, and was potentially a health hazard, causing many to avoid it, so please address this issue. By addressing these points, the hospital and its staff can achieve even greater progress. I also want to note that my father had a Kenyan operation here 13 months ago, and at that time, the administration, billing system, and cleanliness were commendable. Thank you.

    Exceptional Care at EMS Hospital

    We had an excellent experience at EMS Hospital yesterday, August 8, 2026, around 2:50 PM, when we took our son after he accidentally hit his head on a table, resulting in a small cut. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was incredibly helpful and promptly directed us to the emergency room. A tall doctor with glasses, whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, attended to us. I want to express my gratitude to him for the outstanding care he provided. Although it was a quick consultation, the doctor was patient, carefully examined our son, and clearly explained everything. He recommended stitches and detailed what the procedure would involve. Although we were a bit apprehensive about the anesthesia/sedation, we ultimately decided against the stitches. We had brought along an antibiotic cream for minor injuries, and the doctor listened to our concerns, explaining everything thoroughly. One aspect that truly impressed us was that we were not charged for the consultation at all. For such a brief visit, the doctor dedicated time to assess our son and explain the situation, and the lack of a consultation fee was genuinely amazing and deeply appreciated. Overall, our experience at EMS Hospital was very positive. The receptionist was supportive, and the doctor was professional, patient, and caring. I only wish I had caught his name to thank him personally in this review. Thank you, EMS Hospital, and the wonderful doctor who cared for our son. We are truly grateful for your kindness and service!

    Disappointing Hospital Experience

    I had a very unsatisfactory visit to this hospital. The staff was not only rude but also unprofessional, leading to a poor overall service experience. Patients were not treated with the respect they deserve, and proper guidance was lacking. The waiting time was outrageously long, even for minor issues. I spent four hours waiting without any clear communication or updates. It truly felt like the staff didn’t prioritize patient care at all. Furthermore, the costs were quite high, yet the service fell short of what one would expect for that price. It appears they are more interested in profit than in delivering quality medical care. Hospitals should provide support and assistance during tough times, but I left feeling ignored, uncomfortable, and overcharged. I sincerely hope management takes significant steps to improve staff behavior, reduce waiting times, and enhance patient care. I advise against visiting this place and wasting your time and money.

    Needs Improvement in Reception Service

    I recently had a consultation at EMS Hospital located in Kallady, Batticaloa. The hospital is quite large and well-equipped, boasting numerous doctors. The building is spacious, and the lift access to the upper floors is convenient for patients. However, the entrance and reception service urgently needs enhancement. The staff at the entrance counters were neither attentive nor welcoming. We received no greetings, guidance, or proactive assistance. In a hospital setting, where patients often feel anxious or unwell, a warm welcome and clear instructions are crucial. Unfortunately, we had to approach the staff ourselves to ask for information. The front-desk team should be more proactive in welcoming patients and providing immediate assistance. A simple smile and a helpful demeanor could really improve the experience. Additionally, the process of moving between multiple counters for booking and payment was rather inconvenient. The waiting lobby, though air-conditioned, lacked proper ventilation and had an echoing noise that made it uncomfortable. On a positive note, the doctor was caring and professional. With improved training for the entrance and reception staff, EMS Hospital could greatly enhance the overall patient experience.
