    Terrible Customer Service Experience

I had a very frustrating experience with the customer service here. I called on 03/04/2026 to schedule an inspection, but the phone operator was both rude and unprofessional. She claimed my call was being transferred to the right department, yet she hung up without offering any help. I attempted to call back 7 times, but none of my calls went through. This was just a total waste of my time. Management really needs to address their customer service issues.

    Extremely Poor Experience with Neurologist

I had a really disappointing encounter with Dr. D's Dhammi Jayarathna, the neurologist, at this hospital. The service was shockingly inadequate. The doctor showed up almost three hours late and still didn’t properly address the patients’ needs. When I detailed my condition and presented my X-ray as directed, the doctor refused to prescribe any medication and seemed more interested in rushing out than providing the necessary care. Moreover, the staff were not helpful whatsoever. They couldn't give clear information and seemed uninterested in helping patients. All in all, this was an unprofessional and very unsatisfactory experience.

    Very disappointing hospital experience

I had a really awful experience here. I went to the emergency room at night, and the nurses seemed clueless about what constitutes an emergency. They kept bothering bystanders and messed up the order of the line. The doctor appeared intimidated by the nurses and followed their instructions without question. I tried to call the reception at night to request painkillers for a patient who was in severe pain, but no one picked up. It was completely dark outside. Nurses were sleeping everywhere, and they were visibly annoyed when disturbed, even scolding people. I regret being admitted and wish I had never come here. The bathrooms were dirty and had a terrible smell. Although the cleaners showed up, they didn’t bother to clean them properly.

    Disappointing experience with room allocation

I arrived at this place at 11:30 am to admit my wife, who had a fever. At that time, the only available option was a very rundown room 133. Eventually, they promised us room 403, but by 10 pm, we were still waiting for it. The room ended up being given to someone else because of another request. Jyapathma sir, please ensure that all patients are treated fairly. I'm really disappointed.

    Poor parking experience

The parking security staff do not have the communication skills needed to engage properly with patients and customers. They make patients feel as though they are in a subservient role. On top of that, there is a lack of sufficient parking spaces available.

    Frustrating Appointment Experience

I want to share my disappointment about an experience at Co-operative Hospital in Kurunegala today. I had scheduled an appointment for my sister with Dr. Dammika Halahakoon, a neurologist, and received a confirmed appointment number. However, when my sister arrived this evening to pay and collect her prescription, the reception staff told her that the doctor was on leave and directed her to see a different doctor instead, offering her a new appointment. After hearing this, I called the hospital hotline, where the operator informed me that Dr. Dammika Halahakoon was indeed at the hospital and was already seeing patients. I quickly called my sister back, asking her to go to reception and clarify what I had just learned. I followed up with another call to the hotline to file a complaint. Unfortunately, the staff member who answered dismissed my concerns outright, saying, "This never happened. Don’t lie." I found her response to be incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. I have no motivation to fabricate complaints; I am a member of the Co-operative Hospital Society and believe that patients deserve to be treated with integrity and respect. This situation should not be overlooked. Providing patients with incorrect information and addressing complaints so poorly is a serious issue. I've noticed similar complaints in past reviews as well. I urge the hospital management to thoroughly investigate this matter, take appropriate action against those involved, and ensure that such incidents do not recur. Patients trust your hospital, and that trust must be upheld.

Chaotic and poorly managed hospital experience

I cannot recommend this hospital at all. There is a lack of a systematic approach to patient management, leading to a completely chaotic environment. While patients are given numbers, the nurses don't seem to adhere to any order or system. They simply choose whoever they want, rendering the numbering system nearly useless. Patients crowd around the entrances, obstructing pathways due to inadequate crowd management. The nurses appear to be lost and lack clear direction on how to organize the patients or handle the situation effectively. It seems there is no strong leadership or accountability when it comes to coordinating the entire process. This place has the potential to be organized and better managed, but without effective leadership and a clear system in place, it results in a highly frustrating and stressful experience for patients.

    Frustrating billing experience

My experience with the billing process at this hospital was very disappointing. After being discharged, I waited over 4 hours just to get my final bill. This kind of delay is unacceptable, especially for patients and their families who are already dealing with stress. The hospital needs to enhance the efficiency of its billing department and cut down on waiting times. I really hope the management takes this feedback to heart and makes necessary changes to improve the experience for future patients.

    Exceptional Care at Co-operative Hospital

Recently, we needed to arrange a CT-guided biopsy for my father, and after searching throughout Kurunegala, we found that the Co-operative Hospital was the only place equipped to handle this procedure. I am truly thankful that such a well-equipped facility is available in our area when prompt and precise medical attention is crucial. The biopsy procedure itself went very smoothly. Afterward, my father was moved to Room 105 for monitoring, where the care remained consistent and professional. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Prasad for his outstanding support. He efficiently coordinated everything with the radiologist and took personal care of us throughout the entire process, from admission to my father's safe discharge. His dedication made a stressful time much more manageable. Thanks to the management and the fantastic team at Co-operative Hospital Kurunegala. I highly recommend them for their specialized services and excellent patient care.

    Disappointing experience at private hospital

The layout of the facility is quite inadequate. The pediatrician’s room is situated right next to another specialist’s office, with two entrances nearby, leaving little room for mothers with babies to sit. The waiting area was overcrowded with patients for various doctors, which made it extremely cramped. Sadly, I think my baby caught another illness due to the large crowd exposure. To add to our frustration, we had to stand far from the consultation room due to the lack of space. The doctor was about 30 minutes late, and the nurse only collected receipts from those patients close by. Our queue number was 15, so we were left waiting for the nurse to call us. When we finally inquired about which number was being seen, we discovered they had already attended to patients numbered 29 and 30 without checking on the earlier patients. The entire experience was poorly organized. I previously took my baby to Ninewells in Colombo, and the contrast in service is significant. I felt very let down by these so-called private hospitals in Kurunegala. They appear to prioritize profit over delivering a well-structured, family-friendly service, especially for those with young children.
