The punctuality, accessibility, cleanliness, staff discipline, and overall experience all fall short of what you'd expect from a decent healthcare service; it's simply "horrible." If there’s a more negative term to describe it, please use that instead.

I was extremely let down by the service at Ideal Hospital in Nuwara Eliya. My experience with the front desk staff was awful; they were shockingly rude and unprofessional. When I asked for my consultation bill, they flatly refused to give it to me, acting as if we, the patients, owed them something. This treatment is unacceptable for a healthcare facility, where courtesy and respect should be fundamental. Such third-rate behavior tarnishes the hospital's reputation. The Ministry of Health should be aware of these issues, as this kind of poor customer service can discourage individuals from seeking medical care. Patients should be treated with respect, transparency, and professionalism, and Ideal Hospital did not even come close to meeting these basic expectations.

They offer consultations, lab services, and a well-stocked pharmacy with essential medications. Ultrasound and ECG services are available, as well as specialist consultations. Occasionally, the specialists may not arrive on time, but I understand this is due to the limited number of specialists in the area. When they have a heavy workload, punctuality can slip, but that’s acceptable.

I have no issues with the doctor, but I was quite frustrated with the front desk staff. People in the healthcare field should be friendly and welcoming, yet I found these individuals to be unprofessional. It seems they lack proper training. Some of the front desk women displayed an arrogant attitude and were not helpful at all.

We doubt this place qualifies as a clinic, and I'm not convinced the person we encountered is a doctor. A doctor should assist those in emergencies. We visited this clinic on August 18, 2024, at 9:34 PM for a nebulizer treatment for a friend. The map indicated they close at 10:00 PM, yet the gate was locked. We also tried calling, but there was no answer. After a while, a girl spoke to us from an upper window. We explained our situation, but she said they couldn’t help because they were closed. We urged her to consult the doctor, and she went inside only to return with the same response. I can’t say if she actually asked, but it's incredibly disappointing that a doctor wouldn’t assist in an emergency. This experience was really bad.

We encountered highly unprofessional and unethical behavior during our visit. As tourists suffering from a sore throat and congestion, we decided to seek help, hoping to avoid worsening our condition in the cold and rainy weather. Unfortunately, the hospital staff charged us three times the consultation fee and four times the hospital fees simply because we were tourists. We paid, prioritizing our health, but after receiving a token indicating we were third in line, we noticed a long queue ahead of us. When we inquired about the wait time, their demeanor shifted entirely to one that was disrespectful and discourteous. This was our first negative experience in an otherwise beautiful country. Fortunately, our driver, a Sri Lankan who was upset by the hospital staff's behavior, intervened and helped us get our money back. We then went to a nearby clinic called Medisi Pharmacy and Dispensary, where we were relieved to encounter the genuine Sri Lankan hospitality we expected. The staff was polite, the doctor was kind, and the charges were reasonable, in line with what tourists should pay. I strongly advise against visiting this hospital, whether you're a tourist or not. The mental stress you endure while unwell is simply not worth it.

If you're looking to consult a doctor here, skip the reservation process. Today, we received channeling number 6 and were told to arrive at 2:00 PM. We showed up at 2:15 PM, but then a woman in a saree arrived at 4:00 PM and was given number 12, jumping ahead of us in line. It seems this happens for people who are familiar with the staff. My advice? Don't bother with channeling numbers; just dress in a saree or a nice suit, and you'll have no trouble getting to see a doctor. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone.

This place isn't really a hospital; it feels more like a poorly managed channeling center. People only go here because Nuwara Eliya offers few alternatives. The level of professionalism is shockingly low. I've been coming here since childhood due to the lack of options back then, but nothing has improved over the years. In fact, the service seems to decline year after year. The staff are completely untrained and lack any understanding of how a proper medical facility operates. They issue appointment numbers but then admit patients based on their arrival time, which is both absurd and unfair. Many nurses treat the doctors like they are deities and look down on patients, even though many visitors are more educated and polite than the staff. The overall attitude is ignorant, arrogant, and outdated. If you can, choose another option, even if it requires a longer drive; avoid this place.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service and treatment received from Dr. Ranga Gunasekara. We were instructed to arrive at 5:00 AM, but he didn't show up until 7:00 AM, making us wait for two hours. In addition to the long delay, his communication was very unprofessional, and he didn't interact with the patient appropriately. Moreover, we were not provided with a clear explanation regarding the repeated prescription of insulin for a sugar level of 250. Overall, it was a dreadful experience, and we felt we did not receive adequate care or guidance at all.
