This is a fantastic venue with luxurious rooms. They did a wonderful job for our wedding, and the food was delicious. Plus, they generously provided a honeymoon half-board room at no extra charge.

The location was quite nice. However, the waiter who attended to us was not very pleasant, providing unfriendly service. On the bright side, the food was tasty, even though it took around 15 minutes for our order to arrive. Overall, I'd rate it a 3.5.

My experience at Nilawin Hotel in Chilaw was quite disappointing. The service left a lot to be desired, and the quality of the food was unacceptable. We ordered a black pepper pork curry, which was honestly the worst dish I've ever tasted. On top of that, the air conditioning in our room was not working properly, which made our stay uncomfortable. To make matters worse, one of the front office staff members, a lady with straight hair, responded to our concerns very rudely. In summary, I'm very dissatisfied with my stay and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We ordered the seafood fried rice for lunch around 14:30, and it arrived quickly in a generous portion. The rice was flavorful, and the restaurant itself was quite clean. It felt like good value for the money, and the staff were friendly.

We believed this would be a suitable venue for our event, but everything went wrong during the homecoming ceremony. We left a deposit of one hundred thousand rupees (100,000.00 rupees) and reserved space for two hundred guests. However, as people were scattered across tables, some families couldn't sit together, forcing the venue to add two extra tables. One of those tables had hardly anyone at it, while the other remained completely empty throughout the event. Despite this, we were charged for both tables at the same rate of one hundred thousand rupees (100,000.00 rupees). There were fewer than two hundred attendees, and the food provided for the guests was insufficient. To make matters worse, the homecoming cake was missing, and the room assigned to the couple was in terrible condition—no soap provided, and the food was disappointing. However, I have to say that the food during the ceremony itself was excellent and met our expectations. I strongly recommend that anyone considering booking this place think long and hard before proceeding. It’s a dreadful venue for an event, and I certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

I had a really disappointing stay at this hotel. The state of the room was quite bad — the air conditioning didn't work, there was no adequate cooling, and the television was out of order. The quality of the food was also subpar. Even after we raised our concerns, no one came to address the problems or make things better. At the front desk, there was a woman with straight hair who lacked the skills to interact with customers kindly and professionally. Her demeanor was not acceptable. In summary, the service was incredibly lacking. I definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I had a fantastic time at Nilawin Resort Chilaw. The front office and back-end staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and supportive during our visit. Their hospitality made us truly feel welcomed and at ease. The food was wonderfully tasty and of high quality. Our rooms were clean, well-kept, and provided a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the prices were quite reasonable given the outstanding service we received. I highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to Chilaw. We will certainly return!

My hotel experience had some frustrating moments that detracted from my comfort. Upon entering my room, I noticed the balcony door lock was left open, which didn’t instill confidence regarding safety or attention to detail. I also struggled with the air conditioning, only to discover later that it was controlled by a switch at the front desk—something that wasn’t explained during check-in, leading to unnecessary confusion. Housekeeping was another concern during my stay. I had to ask multiple times for cleaning, including basic items like toilet paper, and sometimes the service was either delayed or didn’t happen at all. To make matters worse, there were mosquitoes in the room, making it hard to relax, especially at night. When I faced an issue with the toilet flush, the staff did come to fix it, but their demeanor felt unprofessional—they chatted among themselves in their own language and laughed while addressing the problem, which felt dismissive. The dining experience was also lacking. The breakfast menu was quite limited, offering little variety, and there were too many flies in the dining area, making it uncomfortable to enjoy meals. Additionally, the WiFi setup was inconvenient, requiring new vouchers each day instead of offering continuous access, which became a hassle. Overall, while the staff were generally okay, the poor communication, inconsistent housekeeping, and various hygiene and service issues significantly affected the quality of my stay.

We attended a wedding at the Nilawin Hotel in Chilaw. It's a fitting choice for such events. However, there are quite a few areas where improvements are needed to keep the hotel up to standard. We observed some issues during our visit.
