Frustrating Experience at Vasana Hospital
I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the experience we had at Vasana Hospital concerning my 3-year-old daughter's treatment. We visited on the 11th of last month around 9:30 PM to have stitches done. Since she is quite young, we specifically requested dissolving stitches. We were billed approximately 10,000 LKR for these dissolving stitches and instructed to return for dressing changes every other day. However, we opted to continue the dressings with our family doctor, who noted that the stitches didn’t appear to be dissolving stitches. After three weeks, with no signs of dissolving, we returned to Vasana Hospital. Initially, the nurses remarked that the stitches looked like regular ones, but upon reviewing the prescription, they altered their statement and claimed they were dissolving stitches. They even contacted Dr. Ananda Kannudurai over the phone, who casually mentioned that it could take up to 45 days and suggested we go to Lady Ridgeway Hospital if we wanted them removed. During our nearly three-hour wait, the nurses kept going back and forth trying to resolve the issue. Another doctor examined my daughter and confirmed a minor infection, recommending that the stitches be removed. Still, the nurses insisted we come back the next day, despite the infection. They assured us that one of their directors would call us about the situation, but we never received a call. The next day, we had to return and speak with Dr. Anees over the phone. Instead of taking responsibility, they attempted to shift the blame onto us for not attending the dressing changes, which was completely unfair. Ultimately, due to the infection, we had the stitches removed immediately. The most disappointing aspect was their refusal to even discuss a refund. We were charged for dissolving stitches but seemingly received regular ones instead, and they insisted that there is “no refund procedure” at the hospital. The communication was extremely poor, with a notable lack of accountability and very disappointing care for a child. Based on our experience, I would never recommend this hospital.
