Outstanding Sri Lankan Dining Experience

After three weeks exploring Sri Lanka and savoring some amazing meals, Mendiya Restaurant in Kandy has emerged as our favorite. This cozy, family-owned restaurant provided the most remarkable dining experience of our journey. The curries were outstanding, showcasing incredible flavor depth, perfectly balanced spices, and evident care in each dish. If you’re in search of genuine Sri Lankan cuisine, this is a must-visit. It was undoubtedly our top culinary experience in Sri Lanka. We highly, highly recommend it!

Delicious food worth trying in Kandy

The focus here is definitely on the food, which was fantastic. I couldn’t resist going back for extra helpings of chicken because it was that tasty. There was slightly less variety compared to what I've seen in previous YouTube videos, but that might be due to my visit being the day after a religious festival. If you find yourself in Kandy, you should definitely give it a try. It’s absolutely worth it.

Delicious lunch spot worth the wait

This place is quite popular for lunch, although seating is limited, so be prepared to wait a bit during peak times. The menu may be small, but the food is outstanding, which explains its high ratings on Google. Even with its popularity, the prices are lower than those at touristy restaurants, with mains costing about Rs. 500-600!

Delicious meals at great prices

Absolutely fantastic! The pricing is excellent. This place was suggested by my hostel, so I decided to try it for lunch. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a dinner to go (takeout is slightly cheaper than dining in). I even returned the next day for another lunch. I could easily eat here daily. I had the fish and sides on both occasions. They were perfectly cooked and incredibly tender—truly excellent fish. The combination of dishes was delightful. I took my second lunch on a hike, and it was just what I needed. You definitely won't leave hungry. They offer something for everyone: fish, meat, vegetarian. I highly recommend it!
