Charming vintage dining experience
We accidentally found this hidden gem. It has a beautiful old-world charm, and we enjoyed a lovely dinner in a classic setting. The service was excellent, and they do have an alcohol license.

The food is fantastic, and the service is top-notch. I visit this place once or twice a year, and I always enjoy it. Huge thanks to the amazing staff for consistently providing such great service.

The atmosphere here is quite peaceful and pleasant. That said, the front desk service leaves much to be desired. I had a disappointing experience with my reservation. I had specifically asked for a king-size bed when I booked and even confirmed it over the phone with the receptionist, who assured me I would have a king-size room with a garden view. I even made a half payment based on that assurance. When I arrived, however, I was informed that all the garden-view king-size rooms were occupied, and the only option left was a twin-bed room. So, I ended up in a room with no view at all. Additionally, when I asked for items like an iron, I had to call hotel services three times before it finally arrived. Another concern was the cleanliness of the towels; they had brown stains all over them. On a brighter note, the food was quite delicious, although I found the buffet selection to be somewhat limited. In summary, the front desk really needs to step up their game.

This property is a bit dated but is in a prime location. A huge shoutout to the chef and the restaurant staff—they are certainly a standout feature here. However, the rooms are aging and could use some upkeep. The corridors also require better lighting. While housekeeping is satisfactory, there is room for enhancement. It appears that the property needs more investment for maintenance. On the plus side, the staff is very supportive, and there is plenty of parking available.

I stayed for two nights at this hotel. The food was enjoyable, but I didn't feel that the selection justified the cost. The rooms are quite cramped, and the bathroom is also on the small side. While the service was satisfactory, it didn't seem to match the price we paid.

This hotel has a stunning property but is poorly managed. It's a well-known hotel that has been around for years, yet cleanliness seems to be overlooked. Ideally, this place should be run by a reputable hotel chain that could restore its heritage. We booked a two-night stay but left after just one night due to the lack of cleanliness. I cannot recommend it at all.

This place has a fantastic location right by the banks of Nuwara Wewa (lake), just a 10-minute drive from the sacred city. The grounds are spacious, featuring a large garden and a swimming pool. While the food is decent, it lacks creativity. The staff are friendly, although they could be more efficient, and many…

We want to highlight Chamodh at Nuwara Wewa Hotel. He is an exceptionally genuine and customer-oriented individual with impressive talent. It’s not often you find someone so committed and proactive—this hotel truly shines because of people like him. If you encounter any problem or need help, Chamodh will sort it out in no time. His attitude, dedication, and professionalism really enhance the overall experience. We absolutely enjoy our stays here and return 5–6 times each year. Even from Australia, this is undeniably the best customer service we’ve encountered anywhere. If you’re searching for a hotel in Anuradhapura, look no further—this spot is tranquil, relaxing, and well-kept. And Chamodh really is the cherry on top. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed a lovely one-night stay at Hotel Lake Side, situated next to the picturesque Nuwara Wewa. The tranquil lakeside setting made the experience quite soothing and delightful. The room was tidy, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged with all the essential amenities. The lake view, particularly during the early morning and at dusk, was truly stunning. The staff were warm and hospitable, always willing to assist. The food was delicious and freshly made, contributing to the overall enjoyable stay. Although it was only for one night, it was a memorable experience. I highly recommend Hotel Lake Side to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable retreat in Anuradhapura.

The hotel is set in a gorgeous lakeside location, but it’s quite worn down and in desperate need of renovations. The staff appear to lack proper training and professionalism; for instance, the receptionist should be dressed neatly and present herself better.
