Disappointing experience with cleanliness

This place was truly disappointing and not at all what we expected. It didn’t resemble the images they posted, and it felt very unclean. The room we booked had a bad smell right when we walked in and lacked the amenities we anticipated. As a result, we had to cancel our reservation due to their cleanliness issues. Since we were traveling from Colombo, we made the booking over the phone, and they insisted on an advance payment, which we complied with. However, after our visit, when we requested a refund for the advance, a staff member named Chamodi, the booking manager, informed us that it couldn't be processed right away and would take some time. I recommend reading these negative reviews before considering this unfortunate place.

Avoid this place at all costs

This is a terrible place; I strongly advise against going here. The rooms are filthy, and they haven't changed the bed sheets or the curtains. The hot water in the shower was not working, and the wash basin was broken, so water wasn’t coming out properly. Please do not go there.

Dirty rooms and poor experience

Extremely unclean. I advise against visiting this place. I have photos to back it up. You can hear everything happening in the nearby rooms, which is quite off-putting. I spent Rs 24,000 for two tiny rooms. The owner, who hails from Hikkaduwa, said she would notify management when I expressed my concerns. Be sure to read the comments before choosing a hotel in Nuwara Eliya. There are a few positive remarks, but they might be from people associated with them.

Disappointing and Unsafe Experience

I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. One night, a staff member entered my room without knocking or my consent while I was sleeping, which made me feel that my privacy was violated. This left me feeling unsafe and disturbed throughout the night. Guests should expect privacy, professionalism, and basic respect. Given this experience, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. I strongly advise against going there, whether alone or with family, as it truly doesn’t feel safe. One of the staff members always seems to be drunk.

Management Issues Spoil Stay

Last Sunday (June 7, 2026), my family and I had a rather disappointing experience at this place. I had booked a family room through Booking.com, and the reservation was confirmed both via the website and through a direct call to them. However, when we arrived, the caretaker was completely unaware of our reservation, indicating a lack of communication with the management. Despite having booked a family room with a lake view, we were denied that room because another guest had also booked it through Booking.com and had made an advance payment. After the caretaker spent a considerable amount of time discussing with management, we were finally assigned a tiny room that lacked basic facilities. The room was so cramped that it was challenging for our family of four to move around comfortably. Additionally, the cleanliness was subpar, with the washroom being particularly dirty and poorly maintained. Given the bad weather and the difficulty of finding another accommodation at night, we felt we had no choice but to stay there against our wishes. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. The core issue seems to be that the management is located in Hikkaduwa and does not adequately inform the caretaker about reservations. My suggestion to the management is to ensure that future guests are not put in such inconvenient situations.

Friendly staff, minor improvements needed

The place could use a few minor improvements. Mr. Palitha, the hotel manager, is wonderful and the staff is very friendly. Enhancing the room standards would really elevate this location. There's also parking available for one small car and one sedan.

Disappointing cleanliness at Hill Paradise

During my stay at Hill Paradise, I was quite let down. The overall cleanliness was subpar, with dirty floors, neglected areas, and a noticeable lack of upkeep throughout the property. It seemed like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. Expecting basic hygiene is reasonable, but even that was lacking here, making my stay uncomfortable and unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend Hill Paradise to anyone seeking a clean and pleasant accommodation.

Great food but noisy rooms

I spent a night at Hill Paradise, which my tour group booked. My room was quite spacious, featuring two single beds and a large, modern bathroom. I must say, the food prepared by the chef was outstanding! I really wish I could have enjoyed more than just dinner and breakfast from him. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, definitely deserving of 5 stars! However, I would recommend noting that the rooms are located on the same floor as the kitchen, so you can hear the pots and pans along with the kitchen staff during the night and in the morning. Additionally, the lobby areas could use a thorough cleaning.

Unpleasant stay with cleanliness issues

We discovered bedbugs and a centipede in our bed. Additionally, there was no running water in the evening. The overall appearance and feel of the place is dirty. I wouldn't recommend this place; it's best to save your money!!
