Luxurious Stay at Glendover Hotel

The Glendover Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, even offering us a room upgrade, which allowed us to experience more luxury than we had anticipated. We were greeted with delicious cinnamon tea and warm towels, and given that it’s much cooler here than in other parts of Sri Lanka, the hot towels were especially soothing. Our room was spacious and comfortable, complete with a water kettle. The bed and sheets here were the most comfortable we encountered throughout our trip. The night before, we had the opportunity to choose our preferred breakfast, and we opted for the Sri Lankan breakfast. It was exceptional—an ideal mix of a high-end hotel breakfast and a traditional Sri Lankan spread. Since we were the only guests having breakfast early in the morning, Sharat provided us with a personal, butler-like service. Our entire stay was an unforgettable experience as backpackers, and we felt genuinely treated like royalty.

Charming stay with room for improvement

I spent two nights there with breakfast included. The interior had a charming old-style vibe, and the surrounding garden was both cozy and beautiful. The location couldn't have been better. However, I would recommend updating the bathroom to give it a more modern feel.

Wonderful stay with great service

We truly enjoyed our time here! The room was extremely clean and pleasant, and the staff were incredibly friendly, particularly Lakshmi, who was fantastic! The food was tasty as well. This is definitely a fantastic place to stay!

Great stay with friendly staff

I had a wonderful stay. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food was delicious. The staff stood out as particularly friendly and attentive. My room was spacious and well-designed. There’s definitely room for some improvements, such as updating the bathroom fittings and adding curtains. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and the welcoming, service-oriented staff is the hotel's biggest asset.

Wonderful honeymoon experience at Hotel Glendower

We spent our honeymoon at Hotel Glendower, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and kindness we received made us feel truly special. We were delighted with a room upgrade, and the beautifully decorated space added a lovely touch to our stay. The food was incredibly tasty, and each meal was a joy. Lovely stay with helpful staff

Staying at the hotel was a delightful experience. The view was wonderful and the location was fantastic. However, the rooms were quite dated; the floors creaked and the bathroom could use some improvement—having a separation between the bath and the toilet would prevent the entire bathroom from getting wet when taking a bath. On the plus side, the staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and accommodating. The Manager and Mr. Benedict were particularly outstanding resources.

Convenient Stay with Great Service

We had a wonderful stay in a prime location. The property is near the market and a variety of dining options, making it easy to explore. The rooms were well-kept, exuding a charming rustic feel. The beds were comfy, and the linens were fresh and tidy. What really stood out was the exceptional service. Benedict went above and beyond for us, arranging an early breakfast and ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya.

Experience during the Ditwah cyclone

During our stay at the Glendower Hotel amid the Ditwah cyclone in late November 2025, we encountered the most severe storm to affect the area since 1947. For several days, we faced a complete shutdown of public transport, internet, ATMs, and card payment services, along with other disruptions.

Charming but Creaky Experience

What a nostalgic experience! This location is full of charm and interesting decor, though it does feel a bit aged and 'creaky'.
