    Fantastic stay with warm hosts

    This place is amazing! Ishara and his wife make a wonderful team. Their home is beautiful, and they are so kind and accommodating. We felt very welcomed, and the food was fantastic, especially that coconut cake my husband and I can’t stop raving about! The location is also quite convenient. It’s just outside Tangalle, and we easily visited the beaches of Mirrissa and returned in a day without any hassle. Thanks for such a wonderful experience!

    Secluded paradise near Tangalle

    I absolutely loved this place because it felt quite private, yet it's easily accessible by bus from Tangalle. Just a 10-minute walk from the property leads you to a stunning beach that’s always empty. The owner is incredibly helpful; he even assisted me with a banking issue long after we departed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the food they prepare is delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

    Great place to unwind and enjoy!

    This is the perfect spot to unwind! A big thanks to Laki for making me feel so welcomed. The food is tasty, and you’ll love the beach just 600 meters away. I highly recommend staying here for solo travelers, couples, or families.

    Fantastic stay with great hospitality

    We had an incredible experience at Schatzi's Hideaway. Laki was an outstanding host, assisting us with everything from bike rentals to local shoe shops. He's also a fantastic cook, and the dinner he prepared was definitely worth having. The nearby beaches are exceptional; they are the best I've seen in Sri Lanka and perfect for surfing too.

    Great atmosphere and friendly service

    The host was incredibly friendly and spoke perfect English. The prices were very reasonable, and it's a beautiful spot to unwind. The neighborhood is peaceful, and it's just a 5-10 minute walk to an amazing beach. Additionally, there are good local food options just a five-minute stroll away.

    Outstanding service and community vibe

    During our stay from February 8 to 19, 2025, we greatly appreciated several aspects of the experience: * The owners strive to deliver a level of service that rivals what you'd expect at a Hilton for their members! 😁 The attentive owner swiftly addressed many of our concerns, including issues like: safety, sleeping comfort, missing furnishings, meal specifics, cash withdrawals, Booking.com restrictions, local SIM cards, and inconsistent wifi. 👥 The friendly and respectful guests contribute to a vibrant community atmosphere, making it easy to forge new friendships. 🌿 The lush greenery throughout the property and its surroundings is beautiful. * Staff is available around the clock, providing excellent support. * The property features eco-friendly attributes. 🔊 You might receive an unsolicited wake-up call from the nearby temple. * It's a short walk to the beach, where you pass through a bit of lagoon, forest, and village. * The freshly prepared healthy meals are delicious and reasonably priced compared to other local options. 📶 Limited wifi is a good way to reduce internet dependency. * The front verandah serves as a nice gathering spot for guests and hosts, offering a chance to observe both people and wildlife at different times. * Compared to other places we stayed in India, this was the only accommodation that provided toilet paper, paper towels, nightly mosquito repellent smoke on the verandah, mosquito nets over all beds, and one mosquito net over a bedroom window. * The hosts demonstrate an understanding of what Westerners might find important or sensitive, blending cultural experiences beautifully. * While verbal communication wasn't always straightforward, the non-verbal exchanges were filled with warmth, respect, and care.

    Charming Sri Lankan Experience Near the Beach

    This place is a true find, offering genuine Sri Lankan cuisine and warm hospitality at reasonable prices, making it a great value overall. The kitchen is impressive, and the fridge is well-stocked. They really go out of their way to help. An added bonus is its proximity to the beach and a nearby natural mangrove area where you can spot various wildlife on your way there. The beach itself is pristine, perfect for swimming, and you can stroll along the shore while observing local fishermen bringing in their catches. The locals are incredibly welcoming and love to chat. If you're looking to experience the authentic side of Sri Lanka, you won’t regret visiting this delightful hidden gem...shhh!
