    Hygiene and service need improvement

Our recent visit to the Wattala location didn't meet the standards we previously enjoyed. The restaurant's cleanliness left much to be desired. The chicken in the biryani was tough and hard to eat. Additionally, there was an issue with the card machine, prompting the manager to provide a personal bank account number for a transfer, which we declined. We eventually used other cards that worked. Moreover, chilled water wasn't available until we requested them to stock the fridge. They really need to address these issues and enhance their overall service.

Quality has declined over the years

I’ve been going to Dindigul Thalappakatti Restaurant in Wattala for many years, and although the overall dining experience is still decent, I’ve noticed a drop in quality compared to earlier visits. The way the dishes are presented and their taste don’t match the standards they used to have. It seems like some compromises in quality and flavor have been made, which is quite disappointing.

    Pleasant Tamil Cuisine Experience

Today, I tried Dindigul Thalappakatti for the first time. They have an extensive selection of authentic Tamil dishes, perfect for those wanting to dive into that cuisine. The prices are somewhat high, but the food is good and quite flavorful. Nothing was particularly remarkable, but the overall experience was enjoyable. The restaurant's interior is well-designed, contributing to a nice dining atmosphere. It's a solid choice if you're looking to enjoy Tamil food in a cozy environment.

Enjoyable meal with room for improvement

I had lunch at Thalapakatti restaurant with two friends, and we tried quite a few dishes: paneer 65 for starters, lime juice, paneer biriyani, nool parotta, parotta, paneer tikka masala, and finished off with gulab jamun for dessert. The paneer 65 was a bit under-seasoned but still a solid choice. The paneer biriyani was fantastic and comes highly recommended. Both the nool parotta and parotta were soft and very easy to eat. However, I was disappointed by the limited selection of curry varieties for the chaats, which could be a problem since there aren’t many options. The paneer tikka masala came with only four pieces of paneer, which felt inadequate for pairing with the parottas. This could be a long-term issue for Thalapakatti as it might deter customers who seek more curry choices alongside the variety of chaats they offer. On a positive note, the gulab jamun made for a lovely end to the meal; it was served hot and fresh, incredibly soft, and truly completed the lunch experience. You can request the gulab jamun to be served hot or at room temperature based on your preference. Overall, the food was enjoyable, and it’s worth noting that there are vegetarian options available for vegans. The ambiance, however, is nothing special—just a view of the main road outside.

    Disappointed with Service and Food

I went to the Thalappakatti branch in Wattala and left feeling somewhat disappointed with the customer service. The menu had a lot of options listed, but when we tried to order, we found that many items were unavailable, forcing us to pick from a limited selection. As for the food, it didn't measure up to what I've experienced at other Indian restaurants. The onion pachadi was taken straight from the fridge and served cold, which really affected the taste. They suggested the Korean chicken as their top dish, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There’s definitely room for improvement in the customer service department.
