My husband enjoyed a herbal steam massage for three days and found it incredibly refreshing and relaxing. I received a herbal treatment for upper arm muscle pain for just one day, so I couldn’t do it for three days like him, but it did help alleviate my pain. Dr. Senarath, the Ayurveda doctor, is professional, friendly, and has a positive attitude. We highly recommend this massage place.

I strongly recommend steering clear of this establishment. My experience was shocking from beginning to end. Firstly, the oil they used had a terrible rancid smell, making the massage very unpleasant. What bothered me the most was the masseuse’s behavior. During the session, she touched my breasts for an extended period without any reason or my consent. I felt too uncomfortable to speak up at the moment, but it was truly distressing. There was a clear lack of respect for personal boundaries and privacy. The hygiene standards were also lacking. Instead of being covered with clean towels, the massage tables had a strange microfiber surface that I had to lie on with my head and feet. Ayurvedic oils tend to be greasy and can stain clothing, so I asked if I could shower after my massage. My request was flatly denied. While I was still completely naked, the masseuse took my towel and began rubbing my body quite harshly to remove the oil. This was extremely uncomfortable and honestly felt degrading and dehumanizing. All of this for 24,000 LKR for one hour, which is outrageous compared to many local salons offering proper professional massages for much less. In summary: rancid oil, questionable hygiene, no respect for personal boundaries, inappropriate behavior, and an excessive price. I truly regret choosing this place. Avoid it at all costs.

Elegant Ayurverda stands out as a genuine Ayurvedic treatment center rather than a typical tourist wellness spot. It’s run by two Ayurvedic doctors who also practice at the local hospital and is equipped without unnecessary frills. I’ve experienced severe tension headaches before, often leading to vomiting, and nothing seemed to alleviate them—not painkillers nor stretching. After just two sessions at Elegant Ayurverda, my headaches completely vanished. I highly recommend this place. To visit, you’ll need to schedule an appointment via phone or WhatsApp. I was fortunate to get the first slot just two hours after my call, but it’s wise to book two days in advance for better organization. When you call, they’ll ask how many people are coming and their genders, as massages are same-gender and they need to arrange suitable therapists. Upon arrival, you’ll consult with a doctor who will determine your specific treatment, but sharing your concerns ahead of time is helpful, especially if you’re simply looking for a massage. Their website outlines current prices for common treatment packages, though they offer a variety of other services tailored to your needs. Keep in mind that you’ll need to allocate sufficient time for consultation and treatments, as well as rest afterward in your hotel or a shower after an oil treatment—it's best to plan for at least half a day.
