Cafe 89 by Seedevi Restaurant is an excellent place for snacks, particularly if you're not up for a full meal. The atmosphere is wonderful, ideal for taking pictures. Their food selection is impressive, and they follow health guidelines closely. The customer service is excellent, enhancing the overall experience. I highly recommend it!

The menu prices are consistently misrepresented on both the menu and overhead boards. When I asked the waiter, he seemed unaware of the actual prices and mentioned that the system price would be reflected on the bill. There’s also a peculiar note in the menu stating that the "service charge is variable." This is the first time I've encountered such a thing in a restaurant. The service charge can vary based on your appearance, how you present yourself, and your relationship with the staff. I've visited multiple times and brought this up with various staff members, yet the situation remains unchanged, except for one employee who kindly adjusted the service charge to align with the displayed price. I kept returning because they claim to be the oldest restaurant with a 100-year history or something like that, but while previous generations may have done things right, it seems they no longer adhere to basic industry standards. I'm writing this review after numerous attempts to address these issues, which they seem neither aware of nor interested in resolving.

During our second visit to Anuradhapura, we discovered this luxurious and tranquil cafe that pleasantly surprised us. They serve high-quality food and offer a diverse coffee menu with plenty of choices. The ambiance is peaceful and welcoming, featuring ample seating and unique chairs perfect for unwinding. I enjoyed a black coffee, sausage, and an egg bun, all of which were truly tasty. Additionally, they have a chocolate stand with both local and international options. I highly recommend stopping by for a bite or a snack with friends or family.

This is a great breakfast choice in Anuradhapura. The establishment is tidy and offers excellent service. They have coffee and tea available on the buffet menu, but unfortunately, there’s no milk. The restrooms are clean, though they lack toilet paper, which is a downside. Aside from these minor issues, it's an outstanding place. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend it for any meal.

We sampled the chocolate fudge cake, which was decent but on the dry side. It was also quite sweet, almost giving me a sugar rush. My parents enjoyed the Sri Lankan milk tea, saying it was really tasty. I ordered the hot chocolate, which pleasantly surprised me with its large serving, making it a good value for the price. As for service, the staff was acceptable, but they didn’t seem as welcoming compared to those at their Seedevi restaurant. The ambiance of the place is quite appealing, with a nicely organized and aesthetic interior design.

The restrooms are exceptionally clean, and for an extra fee, you can even take a shower here. It's a peaceful and comfortable place to relax. This cafe offers a soothing and relaxing environment, perfect for chatting with friends or family over a cup of coffee and a snack. You can choose from a variety of coffee flavors, fresh fruit juices, cakes, patties, and cookies. There's even a little book corner to enjoy. A standout feature is the three intimate banquet halls that can host around ten people, making it ideal for small family gatherings or meet-ups with friends and colleagues. The service here is commendable. Facilities like washrooms, a restroom, and parking are also provided, and the cafe is located next to Seedevi Restaurant.

This cafe features a pleasant seating area. I purchased a birthday cake tag along with cake pieces for a celebration, but they charged me for it and didn’t refund the amount. In the evenings, the selection of food and drinks is quite limited. However, the cake was delicious, though the iced coffee lacked flavor.

Cafe 89 is truly a hidden treasure! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding from beginning to end. A big shoutout to Anush, who made our visit remarkable. He was warm, attentive, and really made us feel at home. If you're nearby, you should definitely check it out. I highly recommend their cappuccino and chicken sandwich; both were exceptional! I will certainly be returning!
