    Delicious food and warm atmosphere

I don't even know where to begin with my compliments! We stumbled upon this place by chance and were immediately impressed by the delicious food and reasonable prices. The owners are a lovely couple, and the meals are hearty and made with care. We tried the Vegetable Mix Masala dosa, which was like a crepe filled with potatoes and other tasty vegetables! You also receive a dipping "soup" made from either pumpkin or lentils/chickpeas. We fell so in love with the restaurant, the owners, and the vibe that we visited almost every day during our stay in Trincomalee! It's truly the best, and we just kept going back for more! I'm really going to miss this place and hope more people get to enjoy it 🙏🏽

    Delicious food at great value

This small family-owned restaurant offers fantastic food. They took great care of me, ensuring my meal wasn't too spicy. The prices are very reasonable too. I can't find anything to criticize; it was a perfect meal.

    Delicious Vegan Delights

This cozy spot, run by a welcoming couple for seven years, is fully vegan. They serve dosas, parathas, stringhoppers, and vadus, all made fresh upon order. I tried a garlic dosa with sambar, and it was quite delicious. I returned later for a paratha and stringhoppers. It’s a favorite among locals and incredibly affordable.

    Disappointing Experience with Poor Service

We ordered Masala Dosai, Plain Dosai, and Cheese Dosai, plus Ulundu Vadai to keep us busy while waiting. When the Masala Dosai and Plain Dosai finally came, their quality was at best average to below average, and the Ulundu Vadai was just average. As Sri Lankans, we have a good grasp of Dosai and Vadai, so we can confidently comment on the food. We believe that anyone, whether local or foreign, can judge a cuisine accurately after trying it in different places. Regarding the restaurant, the interior was nothing like what the owner showcased in the photos. It lacked enough space, tablecloths, banana leaves, wooden fencing, and parking. However, we were okay with this since we valued their effort to provide cruelty-free food over the lack of atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was utterly unprofessional. We had to wait an unusually long time for our order. Although we would have understood if it were busy, it became clear that Tamil-speaking customers who arrived much later were served ahead of us. When we asked about the delay, the cashier said they do not serve Cheese Dosai and suggested we should have known it wasn't offered in a vegetarian restaurant, while the cook insisted they were simply out of stock. No one took responsibility for the wasted time or the favoritism shown. Later, the owner replied to our Google review, claiming we never placed an order at all. All three statements contradict one another. Who waits hours in a restaurant without ordering? We didn’t travel a long way after a tiring day and convince the hesitant omnivores in our group to join us just to receive this kind of biased service.

    A Grateful Discovery in Trinco

This place is truly a gem that we feel lucky to have found. From the moment we stepped in, the owners welcomed us with open arms. You can really sense the love, care, and positive vibes in every dish they serve. Without question, this was our favorite meal during our entire time in Sri Lanka. We tried the dosas along with a range of curries, and everything was incredibly tasty. The flavors were authentic, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Each bite felt like it was crafted with love and blessings. As vegetarians, we often struggled to find truly exceptional vegetarian food while traveling, so discovering this spot was a delightful surprise. The variety, quality, and taste were outstanding. And it's very affordable too. The restaurant has relocated to a more convenient spot, making it easy to find and visit. Thank you for the amazing food, warm hospitality, and wonderful energy. We left feeling satisfied and happy. We would eagerly return and recommend it to anyone traveling to Trinco. 🙏❤️ Thank you for such a memorable experience. x

Wonderful Evening at Dosa and Paratta Master

I visited for dinner and had a delightful evening with this wonderful family. The food was excellent, the conversations were enjoyable, and we had a lot of fun together. The prices are reasonable, perhaps even a bit low considering the fantastic food you receive. Everything is freshly made and served piping hot and delicious. It's truly captivating to watch the master at work through the glass; he is incredibly skilled! To the family: I sincerely appreciate your kindness and generosity. You are remarkable and genuine, and I wish you all the beauty you deserve in life! Thank you!!

    Delicious Vegan Breakfast Experience

What a fantastic spot, completely vegan! I had the coconut dosa for breakfast, and it was an amazing and revitalizing meal after a long night of travel. I can't wait to return and sample more traditional Sri Lankan plant-based dishes!

    Authentic Tamil Food in Trincomalee

Vegan Cafeteria is a charming little place in Trincomalee serving delicious, authentic Tamil cuisine. Its exterior might not draw you in, but stepping inside reveals a wonderful range of tasty, reasonably priced dishes, along with friendly smiles from the staff. I had the dosas, which were fantastic—crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The aloo parathas were another standout, nicely cooked and flavorful. Their coffee and tea are definitely worth a try, especially if you're looking for something to pair with breakfast or a light meal, and they come at a much lower price compared to many of the western cafes in the area. Everything felt fresh, homely, and truly authentic, with each dish being filling and offering great value. It’s the type of venue where you can pop in for a quick bite but find yourself wanting to return to explore more of the menu and enjoy the delightful atmosphere created by the staff. If you're in Trincomalee and seeking genuine local flavors, this place is a must-visit! You won't be disappointed!

A Hidden Gem for Vegetarian Food

If you find yourself near this restaurant, you should definitely stop by — seriously. At first sight, it doesn’t seem like the type of place that stands out. The decor is straightforward, basic, and certainly not fancy or suitable for Instagram. This simplicity might be why some individuals walk in, take a glance, and then leave. The owner mentioned this, which is a bit disheartening because they are missing out on something truly special. Once the food is served, however, everything changes. The meals feel like they’ve come right from a home kitchen — warm, comforting, and made with real care. Each dish is fresh, honest, and full of soul. There are no shortcuts or pretentiousness — just authentic, heartfelt cooking. As for the owner, she is such a lovely, gentle woman. Her warmth shines through in her conversation and in the preparation of the food. My recommendation: don’t judge this place by its appearance. It might not be sleek or modern, but the food is absolutely worth it. It’s likely one of the most genuine vegetarian meals you’ll find in the area. Highly recommended.
