Great experience at Keels in Jaffna

I recently visited Keels in Jaffna and had a really nice time. They have a good selection of products, especially for international items. The fruit and vegetable section features plenty of organic options. The store has clearly labeled offers throughout. There are various cooked food counters and fresh beverage options available too. I’m not sure why they couldn’t accept card payments at the counter, but luckily I had cash with me. Based on my experience yesterday, I would definitely recommend this place.

Large building with language barriers

The Keels Building stands out as the largest structure in Jaffna, offering a wide range of essential items. However, it's worth noting that the primary languages spoken here are Sinhala and English, with only a handful of Tamil-speaking workers. This can make communication challenging if Tamil speakers are needed.

Disappointing Chicken Experience

I recently bought a full roasted chicken from Keells in Jaffna for dinner, and it was a huge letdown. The chicken was so salty that it became inedible—there wasn't even a small piece I could eat without feeling discomfort. Additionally, it wasn't roasted properly and missed the usual taste and texture expected from a good roasted chicken. Keells has a reputation for quality, but this experience fell far short of what I'd consider acceptable. It completely ruined our dinner plans. I really hope the management takes a serious look at the quality of their food preparation to prevent poorly made dishes from reaching customers in the future.

Poor management and inattentive staff

This store is poorly managed; I believe the manager should be fired. I was shocked to see one employee in the bakery section sleeping at the table while customers were around. He was the only person responsible for that area. The individual weighing and pricing the vegetables acted like a zombie, showing no response. Meanwhile, a few staff members were just chatting in a corner. It's unbelievable.

Excellent supermarket experience

This is a fantastic supermarket with reasonable prices and a welcoming staff. The store was tidy and it was simple to locate everything I needed. I had a pleasant shopping experience and would definitely return!

Disappointing Service at Keells Jaffna

On June 10, 2026, I visited Keells Jaffna with my wife for our usual grocery shopping. While the cashier was scanning our items, another staff member was packing our groceries. Unfortunately, he became completely distracted when a coworker came over to engage in a personal conversation. Instead of focusing on assisting us, he paid more attention to the chat and even dumped his trash into our shopping bag. When I tried to point this out, he ignored me. I requested to speak with a manager or supervisor, but the staff showed little interest in helping or contacting someone in charge. As customers, we expect professional service at a supermarket, not employees engrossed in personal matters while serving us. This experience was very disappointing and not what I expect from Keells.

Heartwarming Experience at Keells

On April 8, 2026, we visited Keells in Jaffna and had a genuinely heartwarming experience. My friend accidentally left his purse in the store. When we returned the next day, we were relieved to discover that one of the employees had found it and handed it over to the manager. Everything inside was intact, which we truly appreciated. In gratitude, my friend tried to give a cash reward to the staff member who found the purse, but they kindly refused to accept it. That level of honesty and integrity is commendable. A huge thank you to the fantastic team for their kindness and professionalism. This is a perfect example of outstanding customer service and true humanity.

Disappointing Experience at Jaffna Keells

I was really excited when they opened a location in Jaffna. For a time, they upheld the high standards of the Keells brand, and the staff were friendly and responsive. However, my recent visits have been quite the opposite. I've encountered rude responses at the billing counter and completely unnecessary questions. I noticed staff handling baked goods without gloves and neglecting to use the available tongs! There were no smiles and grim faces all around. The other day, I asked my son to thank the cashier, and all we received in return was a blank stare. Maybe he was having a bad day! I've decided to stop going there. Customers have plenty of options closer to home, yet they choose Keells hoping for a customer-focused, hassle-free shopping experience. I'm not sure how the management is training their staff, but it seems like they aren't doing it at all! Truly disappointing!

Top Supermarket in Jaffna

Keells Jaffna stands out as one of the finest supermarkets in the peninsula. The spacious layout is well-organized, allowing customers to easily locate items without feeling cramped. A significant advantage is the ample parking, which is a real asset in a bustling town like Jaffna. The food court enhances the experience, providing a good variety of meals and snacks for a quick bite before or after shopping. The staff are generally courteous, the aisles are tidy, and the checkout process is efficient. All in all, it’s a dependable and pleasant spot for grocery shopping, with plenty of room and solid facilities. Without a doubt, it ranks among the best supermarkets in Jaffna.

Great service and good prices

The customer service here is excellent and very accommodating. They have everything you might need for your daily essentials, and the prices are reasonable. They even have sales items that are quite inexpensive. The fruit we purchased was fresh and of high quality. We also tried the ice cream, which was delicious. I really enjoyed it. Plus, it wasn't too crowded.
