    Excellent service for family eyewear needs

    I recently visited this establishment with my wife and two daughters to address some confusion about the spectacles prescribed by a consultant. I was looking for clarity on the glasses, especially for my young daughters, and sought their expert advice. They provided us with professional and informative guidance, directing us to the right solutions. The prices were also very reasonable. I want to express my gratitude to the optician, Ms. S. Sirimanne, and her team for their attentive and high-quality service. I have no hesitation in recommending this place for its outstanding service.

    Overpriced and Unfair Treatment

    They have extremely high prices. I wouldn't recommend going there. It feels like they set prices based on appearances and social status. Even their assessments seem off. Just avoid this place.

    Exceptional Service for Prescription Glasses

    While on holiday, my daughter lost her glasses to the ocean and needed a replacement. Solar Optic was incredibly accommodating. We arrived at 4:30pm and placed an order for prescription glasses, which they managed to have ready for us by 9:30am the following day. The service was impressively quick, and the staff were delightful. I highly recommend them.

    Today, I picked up my second pair of glasses from Solar Optic and I'm really pleased. The store is spotless and the staff is incredibly friendly. They have modern optical measuring equipment, and the lenses fit perfectly. I've even ordered a third pair because I can't find anything comparable in Germany for this price.

    Disappointing Experience at Solar Optics

    I went to Solar Optics for an eye checkup, but I was left unhappy with the process. The final lens recommendation was unclear, and the technician seemed rushed, completing everything in no more than five minutes. Even after I voiced my concerns, the front desk staff insisted I pay the checkup fee, despite my opting out of the prescription. After visiting Vision Care, I found a notable difference in the results. It became clear that the technician at Solar Optics had cut the examination short, only reaching a minimum satisfactory reading, which led to an incomplete assessment. I cannot recommend this place due to their poor customer service; it feels like the staff prioritizes profit over quality care. The level of professionalism at Vision Care was a stark contrast to what I experienced at Solar Optics.

    Avoid Solar Optics at all costs

    Last week, we went to Solar Optics on Wakwella Road in Galle. I had previously trusted them for my glasses, but this time was a disappointment. My husband had an eye exam with the lady doctor since he didn’t bring his Specsavers prescription from the UK, while I used mine. Before placing our order, we asked the receptionist if they provided lens thinning technology, and she assured us they did. Based on that, we decided to get an additional pair of glasses. I picked a rimless frame for 21,500 LKR, only to find out later that similar ones are available for 15,000 LKR elsewhere. To make matters worse, the lenses had persistent marks that wouldn’t clean off. My husband’s framed glasses were priced at 43,000 LKR, marketed as high-quality, thinned lenses. Once back in the UK, we discovered that the lenses were not thinned at all—indicating either a lack of honesty regarding their services or a failure to actually provide the technology. To top it off, his prescription was wrong! It feels like they overcharged us just because we’re living abroad, even though we are Sri Lankan and regular customers. I can’t stand being deceived or overcharged like this. I strongly advise against visiting this shop—steer clear. Furthermore, they don’t even have a mobile or WhatsApp number for international contact, making it impossible to sort these issues out. Attached are photos for comparison.

    Excellent Service and Quick Results

    During my trip to Sri Lanka, I lost my glasses at Unawatuna beach. I heard about this place and went in for an eye check-up. The testing was spot on, and I received my new glasses in just two hours. I was really impressed with their work; it exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and their prices are quite reasonable. They also have a trendy collection of frames. I will definitely return on my next visit to Sri Lanka.
