    Unpleasant experience at Arogya hospital

I recently had a disappointing visit to Arogya hospital and wouldn't suggest it to anyone. For starters, the air conditioning was off, which made the whole place uncomfortably hot. This is simply not acceptable in a healthcare facility where patients should feel at ease. Additionally, the customer service was lacking. The staff appeared indifferent and were not helpful with any issues. It seemed like they didn’t care about the patients' needs at all. The worst part was the doctors. They were significantly delayed, and there was no communication or apologies regarding the wait. I found myself waiting for hours just to be seen. In summary, this hospital fell short in several areas, and I won't be coming back. If you want dependable care in a professional and comfortable setting, it's best to look elsewhere.

    Terrible Experience with Uncaring Staff

I was extremely let down by this visit. After spending a significant amount on a consultation with Dr. Aloka Perera, we ended up waiting for more than an hour without any explanation. Finally, we were informed that the doctor had gone to another location and that we needed to cancel our appointment and head there instead. This is totally unacceptable, especially given the high fee we paid. Our patient had difficulty walking, so relocating wasn't just a hassle—it was genuinely challenging and distressing. The staff provided no real assistance or empathy, seeming more concerned with managing appointments than with actually caring for patients. It's evident that this clinic prioritizes profit over patient care. The absence of professionalism, compassion, and effective communication is appalling. Dr. Aloka Perera and the clinic really need to rethink how they treat their patients. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. If you care about your time, health, and basic human decency, steer clear.

    Disappointing Healthcare Experience

This establishment seems more interested in profits than in patient care. Doctors arrive late, leaving patients to wait for hours without any updates or assistance. I accompanied someone who was genuinely ill, and after over an hour of waiting, we were suddenly informed that Dr. Aloka Perera had gone to a different location and suggested we cancel our appointment and head there instead. There was no apology or urgency, just a cold and indifferent approach to our situation. The staff lacked helpfulness and showed no compassion. It’s alarming how a healthcare provider can treat sick and vulnerable individuals in such a manner. If you care about your time and health, I highly advise seeking care elsewhere. This place does not earn your trust.

    Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience

Dr. D.M. Amarathunga is consistently late, often by an hour for his appointments, which makes me anxious. The hospital, Agrogya, feels like a poorly managed government facility, and the staff lacks responsibility. Overall, I am completely disillusioned with both the doctor and this hospital, as this habit of tardiness seems to be a regular issue for him.

    Poor Communication and Service

I was really let down by the service. I had an appointment with the hospital and was assigned appointment number 2. The doctor was supposed to arrive at 11:30 AM, and I made sure to be there on time. When I got there, I was told that the doctor had rescheduled for the evening. No one from the hospital had called or notified me about this change beforehand. This clearly indicates a total lack of communication and respect for patients' time. I had to rearrange my schedule and travel all the way for nothing. It was an unprofessional and disappointing experience. The hospital really needs to get better at managing appointments and ensuring patients are informed of any changes.

    Unacceptable Delay and Service

Doctors never arrive on schedule. I scheduled an appointment for my mother with Aruna Pallewatta at 4:15 PM. We were told the doctor would arrive at 4, but he actually showed up at 4:55. This is third-rate service from both the doctor and the hospital.

Friendly staff, poor facilities and delays

We were recently admitted to your hospital, and while we found the doctors, nurses, and other staff to be very friendly and caring, which we truly appreciate, we encountered numerous problems with the facilities. The air conditioning was operational, but we didn't have a remote to control it. The TV remote also wasn’t working. The most significant issue was with the discharge process. The doctor approved our discharge at 4:00 p.m. and mentioned it would take about an hour. Now it's 7:00 p.m., and we are still waiting. Each time we inquire, we are told the bill isn't ready yet. This delay following the discharge approval has caused us considerable inconvenience.

    Price Increases and Extra Charges

I'm really unhappy with the pricing here. The scan charges keep changing; last week on July 23, 2025, it was 4,000, but today, February 8, 2025, it's gone up to 5,000. Plus, they're also charging for parking.

    Disappointing Experience at Arogya Hospital

The service at this private hospital was extremely unprofessional and disappointing, which is surprising for a facility of its kind. It wasn't just the doctors and nurses; the other room services and amenities were lacking as well. On the first day, we reported that the TV wasn't functioning, but it remained unfixed until our discharge. To make matters worse, we found trash food (දන්කුඩ) in the meals provided to the patient. I also asked for an interim bill, but they outright refused to provide one, unlike other private hospitals that typically do. I cannot recommend Arogya Hospital in Gampaha to anyone. Honestly, even giving them one star feels too generous.

Serious Safety Concerns at Arogya Hospital

I urge you to reconsider before admitting yourself or anyone else to Arogya Hospital for treatment. I want to share my recent experience. During my discharge, the staff handed me medication that belonged to a completely different patient, with a different name, and it wasn't what my doctor prescribed. Luckily, I checked the labels before taking it. If I had consumed someone else's medication while recovering from dengue fever, it could have led to life-threatening complications. I reported this grave safety issue to the hospital management (CEO), but unfortunately, my complaint was brushed aside with no immediate action or concern for patient safety. The next morning, a nurse called me but only stated they would 'make an inquiry.' There was no apology, no details about the incident report, and no reassurance regarding my safety. This nonchalant attitude toward a potentially fatal medication error is incredibly unprofessional. Additionally, I received empty medication envelopes, yet they charged me for these unreceived drugs. This highlights not just a serious violation of clinical safety but also raises major questions about their billing practices. I demand a full explanation of how another patient's medication was given to me. Arogya Hospital's charges are exorbitant. While their rooms are newly renovated and decent, I advise you to think twice before choosing this hospital. Their nursing staff is quite unprofessional. If you need proper care, it's far better to seek another hospital in the city or even consider a government facility instead.
