Concerns About Dr. Damayanthi Pieris
After my mother had surgery to remove lymphoma, we consulted Dr. Damayanthi Pieris at Apeksha Hospital. She repeatedly insisted that no additional treatment was necessary following the lymph node removal. Even when my mom mentioned feeling another node on the opposite side of her neck, Dr. Pieris advised us to wait and see and didn’t perform an ultrasound. Eventually, I reached a breaking point and sought a second opinion from another oncologist, who thoroughly examined my mom and conducted another surgery to remove the node she had been concerned about. The biopsy from that surgery confirmed it was cancerous, and my mom then started chemotherapy. Fast forward through about six sessions, and she has been cancer-free for around five years now. Had we followed Dr. Pieris’s advice and waited, my mom's cancer could have spread significantly, and she might not be alive today. I urge caution if considering this doctor.
