As a local business owner near the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital, I'm struggling with ongoing challenges caused by vehicles from Kasun Flora Funeral Services parking in front of my driveway. These cars often remain there for extended periods while waiting for hospital-related calls, blocking access to my business and causing inconvenience for my customers and deliveries. This recurring issue feels unprofessional and demonstrates a disregard for the local businesses and residents. I strongly encourage the hospital administration and local authorities to take action and establish proper parking regulations to facilitate smooth access for everyone in the area.

Disappointing hospital experience

I had the worst experience at Nuwara Eliya Hospital. The nurses were extremely rude and really need training on how to treat patients properly. They were shouting, and if I had a heart condition, their loud voices could have been detrimental. The maintenance was poor and there was a bad smell. I have been to other hospitals, but Nuwara Eliya stands out negatively.

Exceptional Care in Emergency Unit

I can't express how grateful I am for the compassionate staff in the emergency unit. Unfortunately, I didn't catch their names since my focus was on my mother, who had a serious head injury after a fall. They treated her with care and respect, and I noticed how they acknowledged every single patient, even though the hospital was incredibly busy. There was a tall lady doctor who seemed to be in charge, a caring dark-skinned lady doctor in a mask, and many loving nurses. A young orthopedic doctor also examined my mother, and I can't forget the friendly lady security personnel. I'm deeply thankful to all of you. 🙏🙏🙏 Thankfully, my mother is recovering well. Additionally, I must mention the cleanliness of the restrooms in the emergency unit, which is commendable. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Outstanding Care from Nurse Konara

I've visited this hospital about four times for treatment related to a foot issue. I have to highlight the nurse in room 8, who is exceptionally kind and friendly, providing his services with a warm attitude. Along with the updated building, key medical services have seen enhancements; for instance, the addition of cutting-edge diagnostic tools like advanced MRI and CT scanners has notably improved the hospital's diagnostic functions. Moreover, many administrative processes have been optimized, highlighted by the introduction of an electronic health records system that facilitates more efficient patient management and significantly shortens wait times. Nevertheless, there are still areas needing improvement to effectively address the varying needs of the community. For example, the pediatric and maternity departments could use more staff and resources to better support these groups. All in all, the hospital's dedication to enhancing healthcare is praiseworthy, as reflected in positive patient feedback and better health outcomes. However, ongoing investment in staff development, equipment, and facility growth will be crucial for the Nuwara Eliya Government Hospital to uphold its high care standards and adapt to the changing needs of its community.

Excellent medical care experience

I had an infected wound, and the doctors took great care of me. They cleaned the wound, provided bandages and antibiotics, and treated me with professionalism and kindness. As a traveler from the West, I was pleasantly surprised that the treatment was completely free. I’m really pleased with the assistance I received.

Exceptional care at no cost

To sum it up, the District General Nuwara Eliya hospital, which is funded by the government, offers medical services without any charges, even for foreigners. My partner suffered from food poisoning, and the staff did everything they could to assist her, including IV drips, an Ondansetron injection, blood tests, and a designated area for her recovery. After our visit, her condition gradually improved, thanks to the support from a strong, muscular doctor and the other nurses, who were all incredibly kind and attentive. We weren't asked to pay anything, but I chose to donate 5,000 LKR for their assistance. I encourage my fellow foreign friends to contribute if they receive medical care here!

Grateful for Exceptional Care

I want to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Sajith Jayasundara (VOG) for the outstanding care and commitment he provided during one of the most significant moments of my life. My baby was born prematurely, about a month ahead of the expected due date. During an emergency examination, Dr. Sajith identified that my baby had a nuchal cord (the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby’s neck). Because of his swift decision-making, medical expertise, and timely intervention, I was able to safely deliver my baby via Caesarean section. I will forever be thankful to Dr. Sajith for recognizing this complication and acting promptly. I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, midwives, nurses, and staff in the maternity ward. Your compassion, patience, support, and dedication made a challenging and emotional experience much more manageable for us. Today, I feel incredibly blessed to hold my beautiful baby securely in my arms, and I will always remember those who played a role in making that happen. ❤️🙏

Grateful for Exceptional Care

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Nuwara Eliya General Hospital ❤️. I am deeply appreciative of all the doctors, nurses, and other personnel who looked after my father from the night of August 29, 2026, until he was discharged on August 31, 2026. A special mention goes to the fantastic teams in the ETU and Wards 3 & 4. From the moment my father was admitted, he was treated with utmost professionalism, patience, kindness, and genuine care by everyone involved. The doctors and nurses worked diligently to stabilize him, provide treatment, and support his recovery. Every member of the staff who participated in his care truly deserves our heartfelt thanks. Those few days were incredibly challenging and frightening for our family, but the dedication and compassion of the hospital staff instilled hope in us and aided in our father's recovery, allowing him to return home safely. You didn't just treat my father; you restored his life. ❤️ We will forever be thankful to the doctors, nurses, ETU staff, Ward 3 & 4 personnel, attendants, and everyone else who cared for him.
