This is hands down the best accommodation I've experienced in Sri Lanka so far ❤️❤️❤️. The room was cozy, and the owners were incredibly kind and sweet. The view was stunning, the breakfast was the best, and the beach was beautiful. Everything was fantastic! Plus, we were lucky enough to witness sea turtles hatching right there! They come to hide their eggs here! 🤣❤️ You might get lucky too! Absolutely amazing!!! Thank you ❤️🫶🌸

What a fantastic spot! This place offers everything a beach lover could want. You have a stunning beach right in front, shady spots under the palm trees, a high chance of spotting turtles, welcoming staff, and rooms with an incredible view! I truly enjoyed my stay.

I had a wonderful time at La Polena in Matara! The location is perfect, offering breathtaking ocean views that are especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset. The rooms are brand new, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. What truly stood out was the warmth and friendliness of the lovely family that runs the place. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel right at home and were incredibly welcoming. I was also lucky enough to witness a unique event: the release of baby sea turtles into the ocean! This unforgettable experience made my stay even more special. For anyone visiting the south coast, La Polena is a hidden gem. I highly recommend it!

The hotel is situated close to the sea, just a few steps from the back entrance. However, the sea here is quite rough, making it unsuitable for swimming, though it's good for surfing. There is a small swimming beach, Polhena, about a 10-minute walk away, but it's also quite small, crowded, and not very clean. The more appealing beach, Mirissa, is a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride away, so if you enjoy swimming, it’s not an issue. The beauty of this location lies in its tranquility, with minimal traffic on the road in front. The hotel is right by the sea, and you can hear the sound of the waves from your room. This is great for those who appreciate it, like me, but may not be ideal for those needing complete quiet for sleep. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony late into the night, listening to the sea. The hotel staff were friendly and genuine. Breakfast is served in the backyard, and you can even eat on the beach sand, which is a delightful experience. However, the breakfast itself was quite simple and didn't meet the expected quality considering the hotel's cost. While the hotel doesn't have dining facilities, there’s a nice restaurant next door and several others nearby, including the well-known Doctor's House just a 3-minute walk away. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. It's basic, but I have no complaints. The large ocean-facing balcony truly stole my heart.

We visited this hotel in September, and although I meant to write a review earlier, I want to share my experience now because it was definitely noteworthy. The staff were exceptionally helpful – they helped us rent a scooter, offered excellent suggestions for local sights, and made our stay much smoother and more enjoyable. The breakfasts right on the beach were fantastic, featuring stunning views and tasty food. We truly valued their kindness, hospitality, and attention to detail. Highly recommended!

The scenery, the family atmosphere, and the soothing sounds of the waves make this place a great spot to unwind. I highly recommend it for relaxation and just going with the flow. The family is incredibly kind, and they even took me turtle watching, which was an amazing experience.

The staff here are incredibly friendly and always ready to assist. However, I had some issues with my room. It was meant for two people, but I found it a bit small and cramped. Additionally, the hot water wasn't working due to a broken valve, despite the staff's multiple attempts to fix it. There was also no WiFi in my room, although it was available in the common areas and even on the beach. While the views and the sound of the ocean were lovely, the lack of hot water and WiFi were significant drawbacks for me.

The rooms are quite small, unless you get one on the 3rd floor. In fact, there’s really only one room that offers decent space. During our first two nights, the bed was quite old and not very level. However, after moving to the third floor, we gained a bit more square footage and had an acceptable bed. Breakfast was enjoyable. The staff were very friendly. The local beach doesn’t feel very safe and is more focused on activities. For a better experience, you’ll want to head to Polena Beach, which is about a 10-minute walk away, where many locals take their families to relax and enjoy the water.

We spent just two nights at La Polhena, and we really wished we could have extended our stay. The accommodations are wonderfully cozy and comfortable, just a stone's throw from the ocean. The owner, along with the family and staff, were incredibly attentive and made our visit truly enjoyable.
