Wonderful stay with Malli's family

After a delightful time with Malli and his family, I wanted to share my appreciation through this detailed review. The guesthouse is conveniently situated right next to Malli's home, where he lives with his wife, brother, and three children. His brother, who has a physical disability from a car accident in his youth, is often around to help out, tending to the garden, doing laundry, and handling other essential chores. The guesthouse features a modern bathroom, a small kitchen, and a combined bedroom and living room that serves as the main area. There’s also an extra bed in the hallway leading to the kitchen, accommodating up to three guests comfortably. Just outside the room is a private, covered terrace where I spent most of my time, enjoying a stunning view of the lush greenery that truly makes you feel like you're in the jungle—because you are! Unfortunately, the photos of the house don't fully capture its brightness and beauty in real life. The beach is a mere 500 meters away, and while I enjoyed the impressively steep waves during my stay, I can't speak to whether those conditions are consistent year-round. Malli and his family are incredibly accommodating and always willing to assist, which is especially helpful for newcomers to Sri Lanka. His wife is a fantastic cook and can whip up delicious local dishes upon request. I highly recommend the healthy green smoothie I had every morning, as well as the refreshing mango shake. I felt completely relaxed with Malli and his family, allowing me to work, study, surf, and practice my sport in such a pleasant environment.

Peaceful Stay Near the Beach

This guesthouse/homestay offers a beautiful and tranquil setting, conveniently located not far from the beach. One of the standout features is the lack of tourist crowds, making it a serene escape. From Malli's Guesthouse, you can easily explore several charming spots and stunning beaches like Midigama, Ahangama, Talpe, and Unawatuna. It serves as an excellent base with all the essentials close by, including good restaurants and beach bars. The room is quite spacious, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a nice bathroom. There’s also a kitchen and an extra room with a small bed, which is great for families with a child. Nilu offers cooking upon request, and the food is fantastic. The family running the guesthouse is wonderful, making it a delightful place to spend a few days.

A Dream Stay with Family Feel

This stay feels like a dream. The accommodation is spacious and incredibly comfortable, featuring a lovely kitchen, a large bathroom, a good bed, a living room with a sofa, air conditioning, and fans. It truly feels like home. You can relax on a covered terrace with lounge chairs and enjoy a stunning aquarium where you could easily lose track of time. There’s plenty of privacy too. What really makes this stay exceptional is how the family welcomes you as one of their own. The beautiful garden is home to squirrels, lovely birds, beavers, and monitor lizards. You can book a trip to Koggola Lake for a very reasonable price, and arranging a tuk-tuk is straightforward. With bus and train stations nearby, exploring the area is convenient. The picturesque Koggola Beach is close by, perfect for watching the sunset every evening. Habaraduwa is just a fifteen-minute walk away for shopping or dining out. For a small fee, Nilu can prepare delicious dishes upon request that you can savor on your private terrace. We are incredibly thankful to this family for their warmth, hospitality, and love. I feel blessed to have had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of visiting the famous Kataragama temple. I will cherish this family forever; it’s not goodbye, just see you soon.

Great Homestay Experience

This homestay is truly lovely. The price is reasonable, the room is spacious, it has AC, and the bed is really comfortable. Our host was very attentive. Although we only stayed for one night, we had a wonderful time. The breakfast, priced at 1000 rupees, was fantastic. We’re definitely looking forward to trying her dinner on our next visit. I highly recommend this place, especially for couples.

Fantastic stay with local cuisine

The property is spacious and comfortable, just as shown in the photos, and comes with everything you need, including a cooking area. You’ll also enjoy a lovely terrace with a beautiful garden and even an aquarium filled with fish! I must mention that Nilu, the hostess, is an amazing cook; I had some incredibly delicious local dishes that you won't find in any restaurant. I highly recommend this place for travelers or couples, as it features four beds and offers a serene environment to appreciate Sri Lanka's nature. The property is situated between Koggala beach and Koggala lake. There are shops within walking distance in Habaraduwa, and a bus stop is conveniently nearby.
