    Great beachside spot for food and fun

    This restaurant by the beach offers a beautiful setting in the shade, creating a clean and calm atmosphere that suits all ages. It tends to get crowded on Friday and weekend nights, with a small music band performing on Fridays. Some dishes are truly fantastic, particularly the hot butter cuttlefish, which is simply outstanding and a must-try. They sell beer, but hard liquor isn't available, so outside bottles are permitted. The staff is somewhat good. Overall, it’s a nice place to relax with friends and family. The steam boat is a solid recommendation for anyone looking for delicious food at a reasonable price.

    Ideal beachside dining experience

    This is an amazing location right by the beach, perfect for savoring a tasty meal as the sun sets. The views are breathtaking, the food is excellent, and the vibe is incredibly soothing. I absolutely loved it!

    Excellent Thai Food and Service

    I visited this restaurant and had a fantastic experience; they even treated me to two complimentary drinks. The Thai food was delicious, and the som tam stood out as the highlight. I recommend visiting the beach before it gets dark.

    Highlight of Our Sri Lanka Trip

    We're currently enjoying our last day in Sri Lanka, and this has truly been the highlight of our visit. The fish, calamari, salad, sauces, and service were all exceptional. A big thank you to chef and waiter Lucky, along with the entire staff. With 40 years in the food and beverage industry, I can assure you this place is worth it.

    Disappointing lunch for a birthday

    I took my parents out for lunch to celebrate my father's birthday, but the experience was quite disappointing. The food was decent, though not exceptional. The service, however, was frustratingly poor; we waited over an hour for our meals despite being told it would take only 15-20 minutes. It seemed like the staff were more attentive to the orders from foreign customers. I had to remind them to bring our soft drinks, and after all that waiting, they still forgot to prepare one item from our order.

    Great service and tasty food!

    The service here is excellent, and I enjoyed the food as well. Lunchtime was a bit quiet, with families and couples dining. They offer BYOB, which is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place!

    Disappointing Experience at Boat Haus Cafe

    "AVOID THIS PLACE". Boat Haus Cafe is deteriorating each day. The portion sizes are shrinking consistently, and it's simply not worth the price anymore. They serve the smallest portion of hot butter cuttlefish in Colombo on a side plate, and it was terrible—oily and soggy. I used to love this spot, but I won’t return. The food is not only tiny in portion but also quite bad—lacking generosity and value. To top it off, the waiter became upset when I inquired about the recent decline in food quality.

    Disappointing Service at Boat Haus

    I’m really let down by the experience my family and I had at Boat Haus Cafe & Restaurant today. This wasn’t my first time here; I’ve visited before and had fantastic service from Mr. Upul, which makes today’s experience feel even worse in comparison. We got there around 6:30 PM and placed our orders for some appetizers and drinks. The server assigned to us asked for our drink order four times but didn’t write anything down—he kept trying to remember it all. Unfortunately, this resulted in mistakes, and unlike other tables, we didn’t even get our drinks correctly. We waited a long time before someone checked on us again. It was evident that the staff prioritized foreign customers while ignoring locals like us. After about 30 minutes, the same server returned to take our order again, and once more, he tried to memorize everything instead of writing it down. Not surprisingly, he messed up our order. We ended up waiting until around 8:00 PM, and we still hadn’t received our full or correct order. The food that did arrive had gone cold while we waited for the rest. It was incredibly frustrating. When we finally decided to address the issue, we were told that the manager wasn’t available. Instead, we spoke to someone who claimed to be the accountant. Shockingly, he laughed while we explained our complaint. When I asked for the server's name, he acted very unprofessionally, argued with me, and refused to take any responsibility. This whole experience was unacceptable. We left without receiving our full order, feeling upset and disrespected. This is not the standard I had before, and it’s really disappointing to see such a decline in service. I’ve also shared photos as proof of what happened. No customer should be treated like this.

    Great beachside dining experience

    This beachside restaurant offers direct beach access 🌊. We tried the chili chicken, seafood fried rice, deviled pork, and garlic kankun. The food was tasty, and the service was quite attentive. It's a lovely place to relax, take in the view, or even host a small get-together with friends. 📍 An English menu is available. 💢 The only drawback was that the restaurant felt quite dark as the lights were dimmed, and there were a fair number of flies. I hope they can address that issue.
