Great beachside dining experience

This fantastic spot right across from Mount Lavinia Beach is perfect for enjoying a nice meal or relaxing with a cold beer. The food was excellent, and the prices were quite fair. The Large Fried Rice can easily feed two people, while the meat dishes are suitable for 2-3 people.

Fantastic dining experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The food consistently met high standards; we usually ordered the fish in hot garlic sauce, prawn curry, and seafood fried rice. The service was quick, friendly, polite, and attentive without being overbearing. Mahinda, in particular, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, even sourcing sugar-free drinks for us, which weren't on the menu. I would definitely recommend this place.

Disappointing Experience with Poor Food

The meals here didn't meet expectations; they were just average and not worth the prices. The only standout was the chicken cheese omelet. We also ordered the Handella Fried, which came without any dipping sauce, and the Garlic Chicken, which was served with a pool of tomato sauce and overcooked chicken pieces. This restaurant is BYOB with no corkage fee, but the food isn't worth it. On the day we visited, there was a woman screaming for about 10-15 minutes, and when I asked the waiter about it, he mentioned that it's just how some customers behave sometimes, which felt very unprofessional and inappropriate for a place where people want to enjoy a relaxing evening.

Decent location, disappointing food

The restaurant is nice and located close to the beach. We went there for our first visit, but the food didn't appeal to us. It had a very odd flavor, possibly due to some spices that didn't taste good at all.

Delicious Food and Great Service!

During my visit to Sri Lanka, I met up with a family friend who recommended this restaurant, claiming it’s a favorite among locals. The food was simply amazing! Every dish we sampled was packed with flavor. I particularly recommend the hot battered cuttlefish and the dry chilli prawns. The menu features a broad range of choices, and everything we tasted was delightful. The service was top-notch as well; our server Mahinda was attentive yet not overbearing. The atmosphere was enjoyable. I couldn’t have been happier with the experience and ended up dining at Sturgeon Restaurant for most of my stay.
