Delicious seafood and great atmosphere

We visited this restaurant three times, and every meal was fantastic with great prices. The staff was courteous. They offer fresh fish, which is quite large, and if I were dining with someone else, I would have definitely ordered it. However, since I was with my daughter, who doesn't eat seafood, I couldn't possibly finish that much fish on my own. I highly recommend this place! The beach is close by, and the train tracks are just a few steps away. The atmosphere is stunning, and it’s likely even more beautiful in the evening when the lanterns are lit.

Exceptional Seafood Experience

When dining at a restaurant, whether it's just the two of you or a larger group, take your time before glancing at the menu. Instead, ask for a plate of fresh seafood caught that very day. It will feature a whole fish. Trust the waiter’s recommendations—you won’t be disappointed. The fish typically costs around 10,000 rupees, which is plenty for a full dinner for two. The fish isn't the only highlight; you'll also enjoy a tomato appetizer with a delightful garlic sauce and Sri Lankan flatbread while waiting for your main dish. The fish comes with rice and vegetables, which is customary. The side is an additional nod to the freshly caught fish, and your bill will only reflect the quoted price for the fish. The flavor of this fish is often talked about, and it's incredibly tasty. The way they prepare it at this restaurant is possibly the best I've ever had. You must give it a try; it will become one of your memorable experiences in Sri Lanka. If you return to this restaurant on another occasion, don’t miss out on their large shrimp, measuring about 15 centimeters. I can't recall their name, but they’re usually sold in sets of five for approximately 6,000 rupees. They're just as tasty as the fish and will leave a lasting impression. I’ve noticed some negative feedback about this place in other reviews, though they are few. Perhaps they do slip up occasionally. We dined here all week and were very satisfied, giving it an A+. The Taj Hotel, just a three-minute walk away, along with this restaurant, makes for an excellent vacation pairing in Sri Lanka. I highly recommend it. One minor annoyance could be the 10% service charge, which not every restaurant has. In our travels, we tried almost every nearby restaurant before ultimately returning here. While it might be slightly pricier than others, that doesn’t factor in the compliments. The food here is undoubtedly the best! The service is equally impressive, as they genuinely work to ensure your comfort and happiness. When we return to Bentota, this restaurant will be our go-to for dinner. I highly recommend it!

Great experience at Nova Seafood

We had a fantastic time at Nova Seafood Restaurant, and we're grateful to our friends Nischare and Tim Schneider for the invite. Our experience exceeded our expectations. One highlight was the restaurant's location near the railway line, which added a unique charm with trains passing right in front. I ended up capturing videos of the trains instead of taking pictures of the restaurant or the tasty food we enjoyed.

Fresh seafood and excellent service

You can't get fresher than this, with seafood coming straight from the fisherman to your plate. The prawns and snapper were incredibly tasty and well-seasoned, and even the rice was delightful. The starter was a pleasant surprise, too. Treat yourself; you definitely won't regret it. The service was outstanding, and we even left an extra tip.
