Management Improvement at Zootopia
Update: After my earlier review, Zootopia's management reached out promptly, took my concerns to heart, and assured me they would take steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. They also provided a complimentary grooming session for my second cat, which turned out to be a much better experience. The groomers were gentle, patient, and playful, taking great care of my cat throughout the session. Although my first experience was very upsetting, I appreciate the swift response from the team, their acceptance of feedback, and their genuine effort to make improvements. Old review: ⁉️⚠️HIGH IMPORTANCE ⚠️⁉️ THEY TRIMMED MY CATS WHISKERS This was not my first visit to Zootopia; it was actually my 4th or 5th time, and I’ve always enjoyed their services in the past. However, after the grooming experience my cat had yesterday, I feel it’s important to leave this review as a warning for fellow pet owners. I had scheduled grooming for two cats but thankfully only brought one. Looking back, I’m relieved I spared my other cat from the same ordeal. I was directed to Paw Lala Nugegoda, a separate entity where Zootopia staff perform grooming services. The grooming was done by two girls who honestly didn’t seem trained or experienced in handling cats at all. They didn’t wear gloves or masks, and from the start, they didn’t even know how to hold a cat properly. I usually understand when groomers ask owners to wait outside, but I insisted on staying in the room, and I’m grateful I did, as what I witnessed was extremely disturbing. First, they had only one blade and claimed they could trim to that length, which was far too short. During the grooming, one of them applied clipper oil directly onto the blade while it was in use on my cat. Any pet owner knows this is dangerous, as it could irritate the skin or even be toxic if ingested later. The most alarming part was when they trimmed my cat’s whiskers. EVERYONE knows that whiskers are sensory tools for cats and should NEVER be cut. At that moment, I seriously began to doubt whether these groomers had any real understanding of animals. Things escalated when my cat jumped off the table, clearly uncomfortable and scared. One of the groomers then held him upside down by one leg to try to control him. It was truly traumatic to witness as a pet owner. During the bath, they washed his face in an extremely aggressive manner. No one should treat a pet’s face like that; it should be done gently and carefully. It was clear they didn’t know what they were doing. At that point, I was furious and told them to stop touching his face and to refrain from any unnecessary actions. Even the drying process was poorly executed. Eventually, I took my cat home because I lost all trust in their ability to handle him. For this experience, I was charged 6500⁉️ I am deeply disappointed because I had trusted this place based on my previous visits. After what occurred yesterday, I cannot remain silent. Grooming should never be a traumatic experience for an animal. If you truly love your pets, please be cautious before bringing them here.
